Eastlands Most Wanted Gangster Abbas Gunned Down in Shootout with Police

Police in Nairobi have gunned down Eastlands most wanted gangster Abbas.

Abbas, who was part of a dreaded criminal gang that has been terrorizing city residents, was killed during a shootout with police officers on Monday evening, according to the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI).

He was a pillion passenger on a motorbike that was flagged down by police officers on patrol along Kangundo Road.

The rider of the motorcycle without a number plate refused to pull over and Abbas drew a gun and started shooting at police officers.

Security officers responded swiftly, killing him on the spot while the rider abandoned the motorcycle and fled on foot.

A Glock pistol suspected to have been stolen from a police officer, three live rounds of 9mm caliber, and 11 other live ammunition of different caliber were recovered from Abbas, indicating he might have been in possession of another firearm.

Police say Abbas was a dangerous criminal linked with a spate of murders within Buru Buru, Kayole and Dandora areas.

He is connected to the shooting of a woman in Kariobangi a few months ago. The victim survived.
