DCI Detectives Nab Monster Housemaid Who Stabbed Her Employer's Kids in Nairobi
A housemaid who allegedly stabbed her former employer’s children in Nairobi’s Donholm estate before fleeing has been arrested.
24-year-old Gladys Naliaka Nalianya was nabbed on Saturday by detectives from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) in Eldoret shortly after boarding a Busia-bound bus.
Detectives believe the suspect intended to escape to neighboring Uganda, where she has some roots, via the Busia border.
A search for Naliaka was launched after videos and photos of the stabbed minors in the hospital were shared on social media on Friday, with Kenyans calling for her arrest.
Naliaka, who worked for the family for two years earning Sh15,000 per month, was fired following a disagreement with her employer identified as Karen or Mama Maina.
She is said to have been angered by her employer’s decision to sack her and even issued threats to Karen before she reluctantly left.
“With the good salary she was getting, she did not want to leave. She even threatened Mama Maina before leaving, which we dismissed,” a family friend revealed in the viral video.
On Thursday night, she sneaked into her former employer’s house and stabbed her two kids aged five and 11 while their parents were away.
“Her children; two boys aged 5 and 11 are currently admitted in hospital, in critical condition, nursing stab wounds and other injuries inflicted by the perpetrator,” the DCI said in a statement.
