Comedian Chipukeezy Voted New NACADA Board Vice-Chairperson

Comedian Vincent Mwasya, better known as Chipukeezy, has been elected as the vice-chairperson of the National Authority for the Campaign Against Alcohol and Drug Abuse (NACADA) board.
Chipukeezy was voted in by the Board of Directors during a meeting held on Tuesday and takes over from Peterson Mwai, who served in the position until December 2020.
“He will be instrumental in steering the Authority’s mandate as he resonates well with the youth and young persons who are our critical target group for our prevention campaigns,” NACADA Board Chairperson Prof. Mabel Opanda Imbuga said in a statement.
Chipukeezy has pledged to use the opportunity to spearhead youth and children programs in line with NACADA’s plan to provide hope for young people battling drug addiction.
“I am looking forward to working with the Board Members to provide strategic guidance and policy directions at a time that Kenya is facing a myriad of challenges including an upsurge in alcohol and drug abuse consumption especially during this Covid-19 pandemic period,” said Chipukeezy.
Chipukeezy was appointed to the NACADA board by President Kenyatta in 2018 to replace Charles Kanyi ‘Jaguar’, who was elected as the MP for the Starehe constituency.
NACADA is a State agency under the Ministry of Interior and Coordination of the National Government.
The agency is tasked with leading and coordinating a multi-sectoral campaign against alcohol and drug abuse through prevention, advocacy, policy development, research, treatment, and rehabilitation programs.
