Uhuru Condoles with Policewoman Who Lost Three Kids and Nanny in a House Fire

President Kenyatta has condoled with the family of police constable Mary Migwi, who lost her three children and housemaid in a house fire.

The president’s condolence message and support to the bereaved family was delivered by Deputy Inspector-General of Police Edward Mbugua on Wednesday.

Migwi, who is attached to Elementaita Police Post in Nakuru, lost her daughters Leah Njoki (10), Teresiah Wanjiru (7), and Mildred Agal (2), as well as her nanny after a fire broke out in her house on Sunday.

The family had just moved into the house at Florex area in Pipeline, Nakuru east three days earlier.

Nakuru East Sub-County Deputy Police Commander Phanton Analo said the four were burnt beyond recognition.

The family was lighting the house with a candle, which is suspected to have caused the inferno. Migwi was at work at the time of the 9.00 pm incident.

Mbugua said the National Police Service will ensure that Migwi receives the necessary support to help her overcome the loss.

Inspector-General of Police Hillary Mutyambai said, “This is a difficult and painful experience. PC Mary, it is not easy and my prayers are with you and your family. May God comfort you with peace that surpasses human understanding. I, therefore, extend my support to ensure the officer is settled and offered the necessary psychosocial assistance.”

The three children will be laid to rest in Karatina, Nyeri county while the housemaid will be buried in Miti Mingi, Nakuru.
