Private Detective Jane Mugo Hospitalized After Abduction by Armed Men

Kenyan private detective Jane Mugo was on Thursday admitted to hospital after she was allegedly kidnapped and injured by unknown people.

Mugo was driving to Kisumu from Bungoma in the company of her two workmates Newton Mkoyanzi and Gerishon Oliver when they were reportedly stopped by three vehicles.

Six men armed with guns alighted from the vehicles and fired two shots; one in the air and another at Mugo’s vehicle, a Toyota Land Cruiser TX.

They then blindfolded Mugo and her colleagues before assaulting and dragging them into their vehicles and drove off, according to a report filed at Eldama Ravine police station in Baringo County.

“Gerishon Oliver sustained a fracture on the right leg below the knee while Mkoyanzi sustained injuries on his body. They were robbed of the motor vehicle and their mobile phones,” reads the report.

Along the way, the gunmen allegedly forced the three to drink an unknown substance before Oliver and Mkoyanzi were dumped at Narasha forest in Baringo County. The assailants then drove Mugo to an unknown destination.

Oliver and Mukoyanzi were rescued by Good Samaritan, who took them to Torongo Health Center for treatment. “The nurse on duty called police officers from Torongo police post who reported the same to the OCS Eldama Ravine police station,” the police reports adds.

The two were later transferred to Eldama Ravine Sub-County Hospital where they are admitted. Mugo later managed to escape and is nursing injuries at a hospital in Eldoret town while her vehicle was recovered in Mumias, Kakamega County.

Police have opened an investigation into the incident.
