KDF Imposter Arrested Trying to Con a Woman of Sh400,000

Police in Eldoret, Uasin Gishu County are holding a Kenya Defense Forces (KDF) impostor on suspicion of recruitment fraud.

Isaac Serem, who was masquerading as a KDF service personnel, was arrested at Soy area on Friday in possession of a fake KDF calling letter.

The suspect was allegedly attempting to con a female victim Sh400,000 in the pretext of securing her daughter a slot in the just concluded KDF nationwide recruitment exercise.

Serem is being held in police custody pending arraignment in court for prosecution.

KDF has warned members of the public against falling prey to fraudsters, saying the countrywide recruitment exercise has ended.

“KDF reminds all Kenyans that the recruitment exercise has been concluded and any person purporting to assist anyone to secure a slot into the military is a con and should be reported to the nearest police station or through the KDF hotlines: 0726419709/0120300599,” KDF said in a statement.
