Four officers attached to the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) were on Friday arrested for allegedly abducting a man and forcefully obtaining over Sh300,000 from him.
Tom Otieno, Antony Mwanza, Cornelius Wambua, and Kennedy Odero are said to have accosted the victim on February 6th at the NextGen Mall in Nairobi at around noon.
They forcibly bundled him into a Subaru car as he waited for a taxi along Mombasa Road, according to the DCI.
While in the vehicle, in-charge Corporal Tom Otieno forcefully transferred Sh40,000 from the victim’s MPesa account to his Mpesa account before the suspects proceeded to his apartment where they took a further USD$2,400 (Sh272,260) and later dumped him at a Choma zone located at Total petrol station along Mombasa Road.
The victim went to report the matter at Akira police station only to find the vehicle used to kidnap him at the premises. He then rushed to the Serious Crimes Unit at the DCI’s headquarters where he filed a report.
Investigations were launched immediately and serious crimes detectives established that the vehicle indeed belonged to DCI Lang’ata.
The victim positively identified the four officers in an identification parade conducted at the DCI headquarters on Friday evening.
“Any Kenyan who may have unfortunately suffered in the hands of the four is urged to immediately report at the Serious Crimes Unit headquarters for action,” the DCI said.

Jesu! Worst nightmare. Super thugs. Terrible.
Lord Jesus! We are all DEAD!
Too much East is West. This means man's law has run its course and failed. We are almost there, where God's law is about to apply. Everyone will answer for their deeds and actions.
Time for revelation and restoration. We just have to be patient.
Thuggery/corruption in police starts from top-CIC(Uhuru stealing billions daily),then internal minister-Matiang’i compensating shs 1.5b.to grabber Mburu for govt land) and goes down to the police constable arresting changaa and buzaa drunkards. The case will be concluded on Monday when it will be handed to the equally corrupt judicial system.
Mungu Halali.Mungu Hakuli Ugali.Over and over again, the security Department, particularly the Kenyan police Dpt has been accused of being the number ONE sponsoring thuggery in the country. It has always denied and tried to aportion blame elsewhere. If police(DCI) for that matter can pick up a bystander, bundle him to their official car,rob him, take him to his house and proundly transfer money to their acounts without fear of arrest or fear of being known, then what is it that they cannot do my people?
It has been said that even guns being used for thuggery are police borrowed guns, but who can agree?.When will have a leadership which will impose discipline in the foce and make the police be responsible for their crimes? We now need to introduce public admissible eveidence against police with the same police responsible for protecting those individuals.
Transparency International is on spot when it says that the police department is the most corrupt government entity in Kenya. How many time have we read or heard about police colluding with criminals,or themselves doing the crimes against wananchi?
If I were the police chief I would resign in shame. How can year after year your department be ranked as most corrupt in the country, and change for the better does not appear to be in sight?
Is the problem with recruitment or what?People who are suppose to uphold the law and protect the public are the ones breaking the laws and committing crimes... What a country.
