Armed Robber Gunned Down in Shootout with Police in Kawangware, Nairobi

A robbery with violence suspect was on Sunday night shot dead by police officers in Kawangware estate, Nairobi.

The suspect was part of a criminal gang that was robbing pedestrians of their valuables and had just accosted a man who was headed home at around 9:00 pm.

Officers on patrol along Kabiru road swung into action after the victim screamed out for help.

Upon seeing the officers, the thugs opened fire, leading to a fierce shootout that left one of the suspects dead while his accomplices managed to flee with gunshot injuries.

A firearm loaded with three rounds of 9mm caliber ammunition was recovered from the fallen thug. 

A manhunt for the two suspects who escaped with gunshot wounds has been launched even as police intensify a crackdown on criminals and criminal gangs in the city.
