You Cannot Exit Azimio Coalition, Registrar of Political Parties Tells PAA and MCC Parties

Maendeleo Chap Chap (MCC) and Pamoja African Alliance (PAA) parties’ bid to exit the Azimio La Umoja-One Kenya coalition has hit a snag.

The two parties had written to the Registrar of Political Parties Anne Nderitu seeking to withdraw from the Raila Odinga-led coalition.

PAA, which is led by Kilifi Governor Amason Kingi, claimed that it has been kept in the dark over the coalition’s affairs and was unable to access the coalition agreement or understand its terms.

But responding to PAA and MCC, which is headed by Machakos Governor Alfred Mutua, Nderitu stated that the Registrar of Political Parties lacks the mandate to degazette the coalition and sanction the withdrawal of the two parties.

“Azimio is already a registered coalition political party in terms of section 7(7) of the Political Parties Act (Registration), Regulations 2019…Hence the registrar has no mandate to degazette PAA as per your request save for where due process outlined in the coalition agreement has been followed,” said Nderitu.

She further noted that both PAA and MCC provided all the required documents that proved they were members of the coalition.

“That PAA, as one of the constituent parties, duly executed the coalition agreement annexing the requisite documents including former PP19 declaring that the information submitted is true and correct,” she said.

She added: “MCC party, as a constitutional political party, executed the coalition agreement annexing the requisite documents including form pp19 declaring that the information submitted is true and correct.”

The Azimio La Umoja-One Kenya coalition political party, which comprises 26 parties, was officially registered this and President Kenyatta gazetted as the Chairman of its national executive council while Raila Odinga was named as the party leader.

Other members of the executive council include Kalonzo Musyoka, Martha Karua, Charity Ngilu, Gideon Moi, Hassan Joho, Naomi Shaban, Wafula Wamunyinyi, Sabina Chege, Abdi Noor Omar Farah and Junet Mohamed.

Every body supporting whatever candidate is all about what is it for them. No body really cares about the ordinary Kenyans except themselves. The political landscapes must be changed in favor of the conman Mwananchi.
