President Kenyatta Convenes Azimio National Executive Council Meeting

President Kenyatta has convened the second meeting of the Azimio La Umoja-One Kenya coalition party national executive council.

The meeting to be held at Kenyatta International Convention Centre (KICC) on Friday will deliberate on various strategies the coalition will employ to win the August 9th general elections in round one, according to Nation.

Kenyatta, in a notice to the coalition’s executive council members, said the meeting will review the party's campaign strategy and plan to ensure its presidential flagbearer Raila Odinga emerges victorious.

“Take notice that a meeting of the Coalition Council, to be chaired by the Party Leader (Mr Odinga), will be held on the 24 June, 2022, at KICC starting at 10.00am,” reads the notice in part.

Members of the council will also review, formulate and approve party policies, and discuss strategies to ensure the coalition party captures majority seats in Parliament and in all 47 county assemblies.

Kenyatta chaired the inaugural meeting on April 21st where the council agreed to form an advisory committee to help in identifying the most suitable presidential running mate for Odinga.

The Azimio La Umoja-One Kenya coalition political party, which comprises over 20 parties, was officially registered in April and President Kenyatta was gazetted as the Chairman of its national executive council.

Other council members include Odinga, Kalonzo Musyoka, Martha Karua, Charity Ngilu, Gideon Moi, Hassan Joho, Naomi Shaban, Wafula Wamunyinyi, Sabina Chege, Abdi Noor Omar Farah and Junet Mohamed.
