Raila to IEBC: No Manual Voter Register, No Election

Azimio La Umoja-One Kenya coalition party presidential flagbearer Raila Odinga says Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) must adopt both manual and electronic voter registers.

Citing alleged plans by the electoral commission to interfere with the forthcoming elections, Odinga threatened that there will be no election unless both registers are availed.

“With a manual register, it will be easy to tell how many people have voted in every polling station. In the electronic register, there is no record that remains,” Odinga said during a campaign rally in Githunguri, Kiambu County on Wednesday.

He went on: “That is why we’re saying that there must be a manual register at every polling station, it is not negotiable. We’re telling the IEBC they must have a manual register along with the biometric identification of voters on that day; failure to which, there will be no election.”

Odinga, who is giving his fifth stab at the presidency, claimed that he has sufficient and reliable information that there is a plot to print excess pre-marked ballot papers in a neighboring country then sneak them in on the election day.

But in a rejoinder, Deputy President William Ruto told off Odinga for raising issues about the printing of ballot papers by Greek company Inform Lykos.

Ruto, who has endorsed IEBC’s plan to use only the electronic voter identification system in the August 9th elections, accused Odinga of attempting to interfere with the preparations for the exercise.

“Now they have started saying that they want to know who is printing the ballot papers. They have started saying they are ballot papers which will get into the country through Uganda and Ethiopia. You [Raila] have to make up your mind whether you want to be a candidate or a commissioner or a procurement officer,” Ruto said in Marsabit.

“We are ready come August 9th for the polls those from the Azimio camp should just prepare for the polls and wait for Kenyans to decide. Let them not bring intimidation and propaganda so that they can refuse to participate in the polls. I want to ask IEBC to take Odinga and witness the printing ballot papers and if he wants his brother to oversee the job, let him be given that job,” he added.

Lunatic Raila is ready for another round of violence if manual registers are not available.Handshake or any type of negotiations should not replace the law this time.Murderer Raila must face the law if he kills a rat for manual registers absence.

I am really afraid what WSR will do when he gets defeated on 9August 2022. Ruto will burn the country down because he only cares about himself. But the good thing is that Kenyans are wise enough to stop him this time around.

This is unstoppable! This is a tsunami! No one can stop reggae! Its our time to eat! Raila is our dirty past and we refuse to go back there!

Do not blame RAO for unearthing WSR’s dirty game plans with Watengula and Chebukati. Ruto will not stop at anything to acquire power. He is the same guy who had planned to assassinate Uhuru two different times to get power through the back doors🕺🏾. He even told us that he wanted to slap Uhuru and kill him to take power. Ruto is a crook!

The level of trust in Ruto is minus zero. Let IEBC have two working systems to make sure the voters and their votes can be tracked and accounted for properly.

I think there must be a backup incase the system fails. It cannot be if your name doesn't work on electronic then no voting. Voting is a constitutional right to every Kenyan who qualify

Chebukati must be transparent while conducting the elections. Those who have bribed him to mess up the voting must be called out and be prosecuted.

Everything RAO is saying makes a lot of sense. Chebukati wants to just delete Raila’s votes from the registered and help ruto to gain more votes. let chabukari. not fool any body after he received billions of bribe from wsr to jack up the elections…

Elections will go on whether Raila wants it or not. He should have learned something about boycotting the same. He did it in 2017 but still it went on. This time round will be the same thing if he chooses so. Kenya kwanza will vote and so are the rest of presidential candidates.

I usually unlock my phone using either of my thumb but sometimes it fails and I enter pass code. The fact that my thumb doesn't work doesn't mean I can't use the phone. It's the same logic that should be applied here just incase biometric don't work. Some people people on this forum seems not to understand what it ment using digital register. There many Kenyans whose fingers are messed up due nature of their job

Manual register is a must for transparency .

By the way do EIBC have any oversight authority because its possible they can also be compromised.

Ezzy (not verified)     Thu, 07/07/2022 @ 08:33am

RAO can go around all the counties counting the votes himself if he wants to. It may take a couple of years, yes and he will still not be the president. As Ruto said they may even go for the ballot printing to ascertain transparency, but ujeuri na uoga won’t allow them to face the truth as big time losers.

We Luos hold Raila Amolo Odinga in high esteem same way we held Chief Odera Akang'o. If I hear anyone else on this forum talking trash about Raila, I will personally send 2 millipedes and 5 centipedes to crawl on you while you sleep.
