Wetang’ula Responds After Being Linked to a Greek Company Printing Ballot Papers for August Elections

Bungoma Senator Moses Wetang’ula has rubbished reports linking him with a Greek company that was awarded a lucrative tender to print and supply ballot papers and other election materials to IEBC.

On Wednesday, Nation reported that the Azimio La Umoja-One Kenya coalition party wants IEBC, EACC and DCI to investigate Wetang’ula over his links to three businessmen from Inform Lykos (Hellas) SA Holdings.

But Wetang’ula, who supports Deputy President William Ruto’s presidential bid, denied the claims, terming the story as false and malicious.

“The story is desperately malicious and false in its entirety and actionable. I have never had any business relationship with IEBC. I know nothing about ballot printing or any printing business for that matter…” he told Citizen TV.

“If I have any links with the printing company that I have no knowledge of or from IEBC if they have any commercial relationship with me apart from overseeing my elections.”

Wetang’ula is alleged to have pushed for one Abdalla Makokha, whom he described as “personally known to him” to be issued a visa to travel to Greece where he would meet one investor linked with Inform Lykos, according to the Nation report.

The senator is also said to have written letters to three businessmen from the Greek company, inviting them for a one-week investment tour in Kenya on January 8th, 2022. Wetang’ula denies these allegations.

“If any letters were written on letter heads indicating they are from the Bungoma senator’s office, they must be forgeries!! I have never written such letters. I do not and I repeat, I do not know the three foreigners being referred to. ODM must keep me out of their election woes and come to the reality that they are once again staring at a disastrous election outing,” Wetang’ula added.

“The malicious story is simply a diversion from real election issues of fighting corruption, high cost of living, debt burden, state capture, glaring conflicts of interest in the management of public affairs, and of course our imminent and unstoppable victory come 9th August 2022.”

Azimio La Umoja-One Kenya coalition party Secretary-General Junet Mohamed says he will publish videos of Wetang’ula and high-ranking IEBC officers meeting at his Karen residence.

Wetangula is very crooked. He is always involved in corruption activities especially those involving foreign countries.

Lock Weta up and get the ballots printing information from him. No wonder Ruto has now shown confidence in IEBC.

Agree with Weta, this is rubbish, unnecessary destruction. If any one has evidence linking IEBC to any corruption, in any 8/2022 related contract (however small), the call should be for the IEBC step down, and postpone elections until a clean team is in place, and new contracts awarded. Having a relationship with Weta is not a crime, IEBC awarding contracts thru corruption is a crime. One month to elections, ODM should do the right thing, and file a motion to dissolve IEBC and get a new date for the elections.

This is all about IEBC. Also, Junet need to provide his evidence to DCI. If IEBC awarded the contract in a manner that favors one side, then, IEBC should be disbanded and the elections rescheduled. This is serious, not the type of arrogance that you are displaying.

Watengula is as guilty as it comes. He is being used by Ruto to steal the elections with chebukati. I have said many times before that Chebukati is not an honest broker in conducting elections. He has been bribed by Ruto to influence the end result of 2022 elections. Fire Chebukati!

Azimio have started complaining that ballots have been stolen.
Wetangula is just a senator. Where is the state capture?

Kwenda huko nyinyi wajinga sana. Isn’t Ruto in the same government he claims to be the state capture? Wacheni propaganda ya ujinga. Ruto has a very bad habit of lying like a freaking dog. Telling lies is in the elenjin tribe.

Are there no grown men in your damn community to educate WSR of his role in government? Wacheni utoto nyinyi nyote ni wezi.
