University of Nairobi Congratulates Its Alumni Ruto and Gachagua After Election Victory

The University of Nairobi (UoN) has congratulated its alumni William Ruto and Rigathi Gachagua for winning the August 9th presidential election.

Ruto and Gachagua were on Monday announced as the president-elect and deputy president-elect respectively after winning the election in the found round with 7,176,141 votes, representing 50.49 percent of the total votes.

The two defeated their main competitor Raila Odinga of the Azimio la Umoja-One Kenya coalition who secured 6,942,930 votes (48.85 percent).

"The University of Nairobi wishes to congratulate its alumni, President-elect Dr. William Samoei Ruto and his deputy, Rigathi Gachagua!" UoN said in a statement on Tuesday.

Ruto, 55, graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Botany and Zoology from the University of Nairobi in 1990 and later enrolled for an MSc in Plant Ecology, graduating in 2011. The following year, he enrolled for a Ph.D. in Plant Ecology at UoN, graduating in December 2018.

Gachagua, 57, graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science and Literature from the same institution in 1988.

As Institutions,and Individuals clamor for a piece of "our Ruto", some , tongue in cheek, I suppose are taking it to the level of stupidity.Take for example what the MPig for Tiaty Mr. William Kamiket said,"nobody can run a marathon against a Kalenjin and expect to win..." Is that the best analogy the so called learned leader can come up with,to compare Ruto vs Raila...?That said,at least I commend him for accepting the results and congratulating Ruto for the win,despite residing in Azimio one Kenya-camp.
