12 Foreign Missions in Kenya Congratulate President-Elect William Ruto

12 Embassies and High Commissions in Kenya have congratulated President-elect William Ruto after the Supreme Court upheld his victory in the August 9th election.

In a joint statement on Tuesday, the Embassies and High Commissions of the US, the UK, Australia, Canada, Denmark, Finland, Germany, Ireland, The Netherlands, Norway, Sweden and Switzerland pledged to work with Ruto and his administration.

“Following the Supreme Court of Kenya’s ruling yesterday, we would like to congratulate Dr. William Samoei Ruto on being elected to serve the Republic of Kenya as its fifth President,” the joint statement read.

The foreign missions further lauded the country’s independent institutions, saying that they conducted themselves in the spirit of democracy, freedom, and the rule of law during the just concluded election.

“From a peaceful campaign and transparent tallying to formal dispute mechanisms being followed and their verdicts being respected, Kenya continues to show the world how to be a modern, democratic nation,” they said.

The joint statement also recognized contribution of Azimio presidential candidate Raila Odinga to Kenya’s democratic evolution.
