Raila Calls for Release of Siriria MP John Waluke, Imprisoned for 67 Years for Fraud

Azimio La Umoja-One Kenya coalition party leader Raila Odinga has called for the release of Sirisia MP John Waluke, who was sentenced to 67 years in prison for defrauding the National Cereals and Produce Board (NCPB).
Arguing that Kenya Kwanza leaders who were facing charges have had their cases dropped, Odinga said Waluke should similarly be given an opportunity to vacate his charges, adding that his case is a civil matter.
“People who are charged with murder are forgiven and approved to be cabinet secretaries. Others with multi-billion corruption cases are being left to go free. But on the Azimio side, there's no justice. For example, Waluke is in jail for 67 years. It's not fair. We want Waluke freed on bond and his case dismissed," Odinga said at the burial of Kakamega Governor Fernandes Barasa’s mother on Monday.
He claimed that it is unfair to hand Waluke, who is over 60 years old, such a hefty penalty for a civil case.
"He has been sentenced to 67 years in prison yet he is already over 60 years old. It is like jailing me for 50 years. you're letting the likes of Linturi, Gachagua and the other lady free and then jailing Waluke. Is that fair? We want Waluke to be granted bond and then have the case dismissed.”
Waluke was found guilty of defrauding the National Cereals and Produce Board of Sh297 million alongside his co-defendant Grace Wakhungu, who was sentenced to 69 years in prison.
This month, High Court Justice Esther Maina dismissed an appeal filed by the two, ruling that the charges were proven beyond reasonable doubt, and the sentence is not excessive as it is within the law.
Waluke and Wakhungu were ordered to pay their fines of Sh727 million and Sh707 million respectively, or serve the jail sentences.

Hapo I agree! Just release all prisoners in Kenya and start afresh. The whole judicial system is compromised from investigators to judges and wardens!! 90% of Kenyan leadership is comprised of big time billionaire thieves yet the small ‘fish’ hustler is rotting in jail for stealing kuku!! If Ruto and Gachagua are not in jail, no one else should! Release all economic prisoners NOW!!

Come on RAO, do you really want waluke to go free, after the law of the land found him guilty?Besides that, he was given a chance for freedom-Payup or stay behind bars.
The best argument to offer is that, nobody should"go free",irrespective of their political, religious,or social standing, when found guilty. And if miscarriage of justice is evidenced later,"go free" cases should be repealed.
Raila should be advocating justice for all,and releasing acriminal is not justice,as much as jailing an innocent person is.
The problem is that our justice system is blind and deaf.

Seriously Raila?
John Waluke was jailed when you and Uhuru were running the show. He was given a chance to pay up or go to jail, he chose the later.
Raila I understand that laws are for all.of us,but you can't just talk about this group or that group needs to be treated differently. What you are showing the common man is the law only applies to the poor.
Why don't you pay the money he stole?

Raila,
The law of unjust weights is slowly but surely coming to an end. Read the signs of the times and know you are representing the past (history), dirty past and Kenya refuses to go back there.
Keep your eyes open and watch the chains of colonialism, Corruption, and all manner of oppression fall of the wheels. Kenya is on a new path.
Start implementing your ideas in your hometown so you can have something to talk about come 2027.

Raila DOES NOT represent those who oppose a Ruto government. Hes on a payroll and has been for a very long time. You ask what makes him tick after all these years? It's because he is there to beva stumbling bloc to the REAL OPPOSITION to government. He has gone to bed with all these leaders and gets his slice share before they do. I oppose the Ruto government and he doesn't represent me.
