Kiambu Politician Gladys Chania and Her Farmhand Charged with Husband’s Murder
Kiambu politician Gladys Chania and her farmhand Maurice Kamau Mbugua have been charged with the murder of her husband engineer George Mwangi.
The two appeared before Kiambu High Court Judge Mary Kasango on Wednesday where they were charged with jointly murdering Mwangi, who worked as a contractor in Rwanda. They pleaded not guilty to the charges.
Chania will remain in remand at the Lang’ata Women’s Prison until November 29th when her bail application will be heard while her co-accused will be remanded at the Kamiti Maximum Security Prison.
The body of the 58-year-old engineer and road contractor was found wrapped in a plastic bag and dumped in Kieni Forest in Gatundu North on October 12th, the day he was supposed to fly back to Kigali. Investigations showed the deceased was hit on the head with a blunt object and his face disfigured with acid, according to detectives.
Chania, who was married to Mwangi for 28 years and have three children together, is said to have mooted the murder plan after she learned about her husband’s alleged love affair with a secretary at a local school.
Detectives visited the deceased's home in Mang'u, the suspected murder scene, and recovered some of the weapons believed to have been used to brutally kill the engineer. The DCI said the weapons were found stashed in the master bedroom.
Chania, who unsuccessfully vied for the Kiambu Woman Representative seat in the August 9th general election, filed a missing person’s report at Kamwangi police station on October 9th, and later that evening at Mwea police post. She claimed that her husband went downstairs that morning and then disappeared.

When I tell people that nothing good comes from affairs, most look at me like Iam speaking kijaluo to Kikuyus...

Interestingly, all these trouble begin with the brain telling the organs between the legs on how to behave,or not to. Now I agree with @ Comrade Kora Kanini that the "devil" resides between the legs. Right to your words. Who are we fooling here. We are not breastfeeding. George Mwangi, was gone most of the time trying to make a better living for his loved ones so he thought.
As human beings we forget the basics. You can make all the money in the world but is you neglect your duties, someone else will fill the void. How many ladies of the house have had affairs with their shamba boys ? How many men have had affairs with their house girls even marrying them? I'm not trying to justify anything here. Murder should never happen because of lack of s3x, but when we start using the brains below the belt, then these kinds of tragedies will keep happening. I saw a comic once say that what one person doesn't want to do in bed matters, there someone else who will be willing to fulfill.
