A man was on Thursday arraigned in a Nairobi court for forging a degree certificate and using it to secure employment in a bank.
Gerald Lumuchele, 26, was charged that on June 13th, 2022, at an unknown location, he forced a degree certificate purporting to have graduated with a second-class honor in Computer Science from Moi University on December 17th, 2021.
He went on to apply for a cyber-security analyst job advertised by Housing Finance Bank Limited and successfully secured the job, according to court documents.
The bank’s human resource department later conducted a background check on the degree certificate to confirm its authenticity and it emerged it was not issued by the university.
The accused’s name did not appear on the printed version of the university’s graduation list, the court heard.
Lumuchele pleaded not guilty to the charges and was released on a cash bail of Sh100,000. He faces a second count of uttering a forged document.

If would like to know what"he successfully secured the job mean" was just on paper?. Did he demonstrate skills and knowledge that one has to acquire or possess in order to be cyber security analyst
Secondly, was the fake certificate discovered during the normal routine of checking and balancing things or did suspicion arise due to poor performance,or a snitch? Just curious.
