Inspector-General of Police nominee Eng. Japhet Koome has placed his net worth at Sh89 million, distributed in several assets including vehicles, plots of land, and shares in Sacco.
Koome made the revelation on Tuesday when he appeared before the Committee of the National Assembly on Administration and Internal Security and the Senate Committee on Defense and Foreign Relations for vetting.
The nominee told the committees that he has amassed his wealth from his farming practice, Sacco shares, and the properties he owns.
"I have a share capital in the Police Sacco, I have vehicles, two tractors for farming, 37 acres of land in my rural home, two plots within the local shopping centre, my land in Nairobi where I have lived for 22 years and another two plots in Kitengela," he said.
He said his anticipated revenue streams will be his dairy farming practice which he rakes in approximately Sh9 million annually and his salary from the IG position if approved.
Koome was nominated to the position by President Ruto on September 27th after former Inspector-General of Police Hillary Mutyambai proceeded on terminal leave ahead of the expiration of his term in office.
The IG nominee previously served as the Nairobi County Police Commander before being appointed as Commandant of the National Police Service College, Kiganjo where he currently serves.
This Koome was throwing stones at NASA supporters in 2017.
It’s safe to say he will not be serving everyone equally.
