A man who pushed a woman off the 12th floor of a building in Nairobi’s Central District (CBD) on a date gone sour was on Thursday sentenced to five years in prison.
Moses Njoroge was handed the sentence by Magistrate Esther Kimilu of Milimani law courts after he was found guilty of causing bodily harm to Eunice Wangari, whom he met on Facebook.
Wangari suffered serious pelvic injuries in the September 13th, 2020, incident and was admitted to Kenyatta National Hospital (KNH) for more than two months.
The court heard that on the fateful day, Wangari left her parents' home in Karura to meet the suspect in Nairobi's CBD for a date. This was their first date after they met virtually through social media platform Facebook.
Recounting her ordeal, Wangari said she met Njoroge at Ambank House, where his office was located, before going out for lunch.
They later returned to Ambank House carrying a drink and settled on the 12th floor where they stayed until around 7.30 p.m., when Wangari informed her date that it was time for her to go home. She told the court that the suspect was furious that she was leaving and insisted on spending the night with her.
An argument ensued and the suspect threw Wangari from the 12th floor, from which she fell three floors to the 9th floor.

5 or 50 yrs? This magistrate is a Whore.
No woman should deal with this incels. She probably financed the date and is
now nursing injuries from physical & mental trauma. I wish her great recovery!
Mwakilishi, for whatever reason,Probably saving space, and print-ink ,did not put out the whole story. For example, in the daily nation,it is reported that, on hearing the judge sentence him to 5 years, Njoroge "plastered" a broad smile on his face. Who wouldn't when you evade life imprisonment and get only 5 years? What a relief!
No doubt when you factor in the information like both were drunk, and that there was an argument, one could see why an inadvertent push could occurred. However the watchman ,according to DN testified that Njoroge pushed the lady.So this was not an accident.
I dont see the crime fitting the punishment, plus deterrence.Did cash change hands? Or is this the version of withdrawing cases for those with low profile cases, but with cash? Interesting-You withdraw enough cash and its enough to withdraw your criminal case.Justice withdrawn I guess.
