President Ruto has promised that every Kenyan who attends Jamhuri Day celebrations at Nyayo Stadium on Monday will receive a free paid course from the University of Arizona.
Ruto, who spoke on Sunday at the Jamhuri Tech and Innovation Summit held at KICC in Nairobi, said his administration is committed to using technology to expand job opportunities and enable young Kenyans to obtain well-paying remote jobs.
“The easiest route to us creating job opportunities for our young people is on the tech space or digital platforms and remote jobs so that one can work from wherever they are,” Ruto said.
“Tomorrow, every citizen who will come to Nyayo Stadium, you will go back with a course paid for by the University of Arizona. You would otherwise pay $1,000 for the 16-unit course that you can learn and close your gap,” he added.
To receive the course, the president said one will not need any prior knowledge and that there are no entry requirements as long as one can read and understand English or Kiswahili.
“Those are the kind of opportunities we are looking for with Mastercard, Microsoft and all the other tech companies that are present here…Those are the opportunities that inspired me to make this Jamhuri Day a tech and innovation Jamhuri,” he said.
This year’s Jamhuri Day event is centered on innovation, which has seen Ruto’s administration launch initiatives aimed at tech-savvy youth. As part of the Jamhuri Day celebrations, Ruto also hosted tech experts from around the world.

The IDIOT😁 is Trying to Pull foolish Crowds. Moral yeye.
This man needs to accept that he "won" the presidency and should stop buying crowds.
He should just buy Unga for people to attend & cooking oil for them to clap for him.
He bought politicians , he paid bloggers, he moved supporters in buses all over, he paid supporters , he paid journalists , he paid returning officers,he should now buy Unga , cooking oil & sugar for people to attend Jamhuri celebrations.
Also we know he gets paid to free criminals.
Wait a minute which technology are being marketed here..online course itabidi use na wifi..reasonable na kplc was ration power...well dreams are valid bribe to attend Jamuhuri
I see some here are quick to pock holes in Ruto's largess. And rightly so. since the information on enrollment and basic qualifications are missing. So, the offer may be legit.but the devil is in the detail.I am sure if you attended the celebrations, but you dropped out of school in standard 4, you probably dont meet the entrance level qualifications to enroll...
What if you join by zoom or live TV?
Is that bribery to have the youth overcome the fear of COVID-22?
Key word here: Course. How can taking 1 course help you in your life? You need a DEGREE! Taking one class cannot get you a job!
Let's talk sense. No University in the world can admit such a big number attending a politically initiated meeting. Furthermore, universities in US are academically based NOT politically based. Let us respect the academia.
