Police officers were on Monday forced to lob teargas canisters to disperse hundreds of opposition protestors who attempted to gain access to Kisumu State Lodge.
A video showed the protestors approaching the premise on foot and motorbikes but they retreated after police fired teargas.
Law enforcement officers later barricaded the roads leading to the State Lodge.
Opposition’s Azimio la Umoja One Kenya coalition called for countrywide protests to “reclaim” their victory in the August 9th, 2022 general election and compel the government to lower the cost of living, among other demands.
Demonstrations witnessed in Nairobi and other parts of the country on Monday morning were marred by chaos and wrangles between police officers and protesters.
In Nairobi, some of Azimio leaders leading a group of protestors were arrested including Ugunja MP and Opiyo Wandayi and Kilifi Senator Stewart Madzayo.
Azimio leaders Raila Odinga, Kalonzo Musyoka, and Martha Karua were expected in Nairobi’s central business district to lead the demos.

Dawa ya homa ni tear gas, dawa ya homa, dawa ya homa tear gas, data ya homa.
Let's sing together ......
You only wish Moi was around. You don't challenge authority of a Govt like this and get away while walking home. Authority must be honored at all levels. The president doesn't bear the sword in vain.
Shoot the motherfuckers dead on spot!!!
