US Embassy Dismisses Statement on Revocation of Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua’s Visa
The US Embassy in Kenya has dismissed a statement shared on social media claiming that the visas of some government officials have been revoked over the violence witnessed during opposition protests on Monday.
The statement which was purported to be released by the US Department of the Treasury's Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) named Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua, Trade Cabinet Secretary Moses Kuria and MPs Kimani Ichungwah and Ndindi Nyoro as the government officials whose visas had been withdrawn.
The statement claimed that the four planned and sponsored violence targeted at opposition supporters and private properties owned by former President Uhuru Kenyatta and Azimio la Umoja One Kenya coalition leader Raila Odinga.
"Their actions were meant to silence dissent; limit freedom of speech and the press, degrade the rule of law, perpetuate violent conflicts, undermine economic markets, and genesarally undermine democracy in Kenya," part of the fake statement read.
"These visa revocations demonstrate that the United States will promote accountability not only for regime leaders, but also for officials who enable the regime's assaults on democracy and human rights," it added.
But Andrew Veveiros, the spokesperson for the US Embassy in Nairobi, termed the statement as fake, saying, there has been no such communication from the United States government.
“I can confirm that the report doing rounds is fake as there has been no such communication from the United States Government,” Veveiros told Citizen Digital.
Odinga blamed Gachagua for the invasion of the Kenyatta family-owned expansive farm in Ruiru, Kiambu County and his East Africa Spectre Limited gas plant in Nairobi by goons.

How come you did not say a word or protest when Samoei campaigned for 5 years relentlessly while ignoring the plea from his boss to stop loitering and start assisting him perform his duties as the sitting president of Kenya?

Rigathi: You were not born when the freedom fighters attacked my parents and almost killed my mother after accusing them of spreading a colonial-based foreign Roman/Jewish religion. The current government has allocated many senior positions to believers and diehard followers of the Roman/Jewish religion as if the entire country is composed of them! This is religious-based nepotism and should stop.
Stop making places of worship centers of politics. Stop mixing politics and prayers. A few of us have fully liberated ourselves from believing and practicing the foreign-based religions that participated in COHO (Continent of Human Origins a.k.a. Africa) slavery and colonized the people of our continent.
A fully liberated member of COHO cannot be a member of a colonial-Jewish/Arab based religion. Or have a foreign name that has origins in the Jewish-Arab Portuguese/French/Spanish/Belgium/English/Italian origins.

Interestingly the Mt. Kenya types used Kīamas to dispense justice and adjudicate disputes. They had councils of elders that were set up in order of seniority. They did not have kings or chiefs until these were imposed on them. Athamaki were not kings but elders who by dint of their acquired wisdom were leaders(earned not bestowed). The aGīkūyū had a years long ceremony for transferring power from one age grade to the next. The white man even managed to convince us to subvert the meaning of words like mūrogi(wizard) and ngoma (spirits or literally the sleeping ones) to one who does harm and the second to devils. The original framers never made any effort to incorporate any African traditions whatsoever.
