Gachagua Claims Raila Wanted to Take Photos With Ruto During Their Weekend Interaction

Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has claimed that Azimio leader Raila Odinga was seeking photo opportunities with President William Ruto during his interactions with the head of state this past weekend.
The DP was referring to Raila's meeting with President Ruto during the Kip Keino Classic in Kasarani and during Mashemeji Derby in Nyayo Stadium. While speaking on Thursday, the DP urged Raila to tag along during their weekend function in Limuru so that he can take more pictures with the head of state. He claimed that Raila pursued President Ruto for photos so that he can calm his followers. He further added that Mr Ruto has no problem with taking pictures with Mr Odinga.
"The other day Raila saw Ruto and he ran there to take pictures. When he sees him in a stadium he ran for pictures so that his people can remain calm," he said.
The firebrand politician urged Raila's bloc to perform their oversight function to ensure accountability. The Azimio boss has maintained that his interactions with Ruto were a matter of coincidence. He further conveyed that during Mashemeji's derby, they only delved into football issues.
"We were in Nyandarua, we went there in Njabini village for the funeral of late Field Marshal Mama Mukami Kimathi and we met there with Ruto, his deputy and his ministers. And of course, we shook hands. It was a chance meeting, we did not plan to meet there," he said.
