Turning to diaspora news, the State Department for Diaspora Affairs wants to harness the expertise, investments and trade networks of Kenyans in the Caribbean to support development back home. The push follows a meet-and-greet at the residence of Ambassador Mwenda Karis, Kenya's High Commissioner to Cuba, who covers Jamaica from Havana. Irene Karari, representing Principal Secretary Roseline Njogu, said citizens abroad remain central to economic growth. Officials want diaspora resources channelled beyond remittances, into business networks and direct investment.

Staying with the diaspora, a Kenyan family in Australia is appealing for help to trace a relative missing in Liverpool, New South Wales. Baruch Kipkemboi, also known as Faruk, was last seen on Wednesday the twenty-first of October, after showing signs of anxiety. His cousin Leny has issued a missing-person alert. The family describes him as friendly, but urges anyone who spots him to stay calm. Information can go to Leny on oh four one five, nine seven nine, six one four, or to local police.

Also from the diaspora, activist Boniface Mwangi has ended his United Kingdom tour with a community hike along the White Cliffs of Dover. The Ukweli Party leader, a presidential aspirant, is building ties with Kenyans abroad ahead of the August twenty twenty-seven election. The tour opened on the seventeenth of October with a baraza in Northampton. On the twenty-second, he spoke at SOAS University of London in a session titled From Protest to Power. The closing walk in Kent was dubbed Tembea Kent na Bonnie.

Still with the diaspora, a family in Kenya is appealing for help to bring home Gedion Rotich, who died in Houston, Texas. He was found unresponsive at his residence, and responders could not revive him. The cause of death has not been confirmed. He left Litein in Kericho County in two thousand and seven on a scholarship to Grambling State University, and later settled in Houston. His sister Lydia Chebet Sang seeks help with funeral logistics. The family urges donors to verify payment arrangements first.

Turning to immigration news, Canada has opened new permanent residency pathways for foreign-trained doctors. Up to five thousand federal slots are reserved for physicians under the Provincial Nominee Program. There is also a dedicated Express Entry category for doctors with at least one year of full-time Canadian work experience in the past three years. Nominated doctors will get work permits processed within fourteen days. Officials stress immigration clearance does not grant the right to practise, as licences from provincial boards are still required.

Staying with immigration, Maryland has joined a lawsuit challenging the Trump administration's changes to green card policy. The move was reported by The Sentinel on the twenty-fifth of October. The United States issues roughly one million new green cards in a typical year, and about thirteen million lawful permanent residents live in the country. Maryland has a direct interest, with more than nine hundred thousand foreign-born residents, about fifteen per cent of its people. The Justice Department is expected to lead the government's defence.

Now to Kenya news, former President Uhuru Kenyatta has turned sixty-five, marking the day with a quiet family gathering in the countryside. Born in Gatundu on October twenty-sixth, nineteen sixty-one, he was joined by his wife Margaret and their children Jomo, Muhoho and Ngina. In a Kikuyu radio interview, he warned Mt Kenya against repeating past voting errors in twenty twenty-seven. He said he forgave the region for backing William Ruto in twenty twenty-two, delivering roughly three point five million of Ruto's seven point one million votes.

Staying with Kenya, police have rescued fifty-nine Ethiopian nationals, among them a four-year-old child, in a multi-agency operation against suspected human smuggling in Marsabit County. The rescue was reported by Capital FM Kenya. Marsabit lies on Kenya's northern frontier with Ethiopia, along a corridor long used by people moving from the Horn of Africa southward. Police framed the action as a strike against suspected smugglers rather than the people being moved. All fifty-nine were recorded as rescued, with no indication any faced arrest.

Also from Kenya, Health Cabinet Secretary Aden Duale says the country could be declared free of Ebola in three weeks, if no new community cases emerge. Speaking on Citizen TV, he said international standards require forty-two days without new cases. Kenya is twenty-one days into the outbreak that began on October the second. Nine cases are confirmed, with two deaths, all linked to one imported case. Five hundred and fifty-one suspected cases tested negative in the last forty-eight hours, and Uganda has discharged all sixty traced contacts.

Back in Kenya, opposition unity efforts have hit a public wall. The Wiper Patriotic Front rejects claims by the Democracy for the Citizens Party that Kalonzo Musyoka is being persuaded to step down and deputise Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna. DCP's Cleophas Malala said in Kakamega his party had settled on Sifuna as its presidential flagbearer. Wiper spokesperson Ndegwa Njiru dismissed the remarks as theatrics, calling Malala a playwright. Meanwhile, Kalonzo met Rigathi Gachagua at his Wamunyoro home in Nyeri for further talks.

Staying in Kenya, the government is reviving plans to turn the four hundred and sixty-one kilometre Nairobi-Mombasa highway into a tolled dual carriageway through a public-private partnership. The Draft twenty twenty-seven Budget Policy Statement also lists the Mau Summit-Eldoret-Malaba route. This follows the rejection of a four hundred and sixty-eight billion shilling greenfield expressway proposal from Everstrong Capital, which the Treasury's PPP Committee found failed to meet the PPP Act. The revised plan upgrades the existing two-lane A8 to at least four lanes.

Also in Kenya, the Director of Public Prosecutions has ordered the Directorate of Criminal Investigations to probe the collapse of a multi-storey building in Eastleigh. The Office of the DPP says Nairobi City County never submitted any inquiry file over alleged irregularities at the site. The October twenty-third disaster left forty-seven people reported missing by Sunday, with nine traced to their families. Governor Johnson Sakaja has separately complained that county prosecutions have struggled since special prosecutors lost their gazettement.
