Ahmednasir Questions Raila's 'Walk to Work' Directive

Lawyer Ahmednasir Abdullahi has questioned Azimio leader Raila Odinga's request to Kenyans to boycott paying taxes and instead use alternative forms of transport to get to work.

On Tuesday, Ahmednasir posed a question to MP Junet Mohamed in response to Raila's suggestion, wondering what could have compelled Raila to ask Kenyans to ditch public service vehicles for walking.

"Eh...what really happened to Hon Raila? That request to walk instead of using buses and Matatus?" He asked.

At the Kamukunji rally, Raila touted the move, saying it would reduce the consumption of petrol and diesel by public service vehicles hence denying President William Ruto fuel tax. The former Prime Minister further asked Matatu operators to take on extra passengers, despite it infringing on traffic rules. He appealed to the traffic police to support the tax boycott by allowing vehicles to carry above capacity.  He also asserted that Kenyans are tired but not powerless when it comes to issues such as food and fuel.

“One way, to do this is to carpool. Let us arrange to make regular journeys in a single vehicle whenever possible. Give each other a ride. Cut down on non-essential travel. Walk instead of driving whenever possible. I appeal to all the employers to allow their workers time to walk to and from work,” Raila said.

At the Azimio La Umoja Kamukunji rally, the absence of Wiper Party leader Kalonzo Musyoka came as a surprise to their followers. In response, Mr Odinga informed the gathering that Kalonzo had sent his apologies while out in Europe. Kitui Senator Enoch Wambua reassured the crowd that the Wiper leader would back any resolutions reached during the consultative meeting.

Maybe Rao should show by example. He should ditch his v8 bulletproof whip and instead walk to the maandamano like his followers. Ama apande hizo basi na matatu zina overload na asimame hadi kamukunji grounds. This is foolish, preaching water but you drink wine. Msidanganywe kama wale watu wa shakahola. Gone are the days when people used to be packed like gunia in PSVs. People love comfort hata kwa public transport.
