Senator Khalwale Wants Moses Kuria Sacked Over Remarks

Kakamega Senator Boni Khalwale on Sunday called on President William Ruto to dismiss three senior officials amid the escalation of fuel prices in the nation.

The Senate Majority Whip demanded the removal of Trade CS Moses Kuria, Energy CS Davis Chirchir, and the president's chief economic adviser David Ndii. He criticised Kuria for dismissing complaints from Kenyans about the recently announced fuel prices and suggesting that those who are unhappy should drill their own oil wells. Chirchir, who appeared before the Energy Committee in Parliament, stated that there is little the government can do about fuel prices. Ndii cited international oil shocks and the country's history of debt as contributing factors to the rising fuel prices.

“President Ruto, I want to tell you today from Kakamega, watu wenye umepatia kazi wamekuingiza kona mbaya sana; mtu ambaye anaitwa minister for trade, mtu ambaye anaitwa waziri wa energy na mtu ambaye anaitwa your economic advisor,” Khalwale said.

Khalwale said that the individuals appointed have placed the president in a difficult situation. He now demands clarification from them regarding their controversial statements. The senator called on Ruto to sack the three individuals if he so wants to avoid criticism from the public.

As an elected representative, the Senator affirms that his top priority lies in serving the disadvantaged with a particular emphasis on aiding small business owners like bodaboda riders struggling with fuel costs. He says that Kenyan citizens appear to have lost faith in the government's ability to deliver on their pledges. Meanwhile, Lawyer Miguna Miguna has blasted David Ndii for his utterance that appears to suggest that Kenya Kwanza's plan for reviving the economy is nothing more than a gamble.

Boni should study basic economics, throw in oil company greed and speculative practices in the oil market and he'll have his answer. Russia and Saudi Arabia extended their voluntary cuts to oil production two weeks ago and gas prices surged the very next day by 30c to 40c in my neck of the woods. There was nothing Polis or Biden could have done a out it and similarly nothing Ruto did or said would have had any effect on the price. I despise Ruto and his government but the truth doesn't pick sides.

Ndugu Khalwale:

WaEmbu wana methali mojawapo muhimu sana inayosema :

“Mūcera na mūkūmdū akūndūkaga take.”

Maana yake ni hii, ukiandamananna mtu mwenye upele hata wewe utaupata upele huo.
