President Ruto Did Not Target Mt Kenya Ministers, Gachagua Assures

Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has defended President William Ruto's recent cabinet reshuffle which has been criticised by some leaders from the Mt Kenya region.

According to Gachagua, the President was simply reorganizing his government to align with his vision. In a live interview on Inooro FM on Friday, Gachagua assured the people of Mt Kenya that they should not feel targeted or lose hope as they are in good hands with a compassionate and respectful president. He also clarified that he has not been sidelined despite rumours suggesting otherwise. Gachagua emphasized that the President values him as his deputy, particularly because of his early rising habits. He assured that his support base in the Mt Kenya region remains strong within the Kenya Kwanza Alliance government.

The reshuffle was prompted by President Ruto's public dissatisfaction with some appointees who were deemed incompetent for their roles. As part of the changes announced on Wednesday, Moses Kuria was transferred from the Trade Ministry to the Public Service with Rebecca Miano taking his place after being moved from the East African Community ministry. Ruto expanded the ministerial portfolio of Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi, appointing him as the Cabinet Secretary for Foreign Affairs. This move is criticized by some experts who believe it undermines the significance of DP Gachagua's office.

Meanwhile, after a year of intermittent political disagreements, Kericho Governor Erick Mutai and his Deputy Fred Kirui have come to a resolution facilitated by Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua at his office in Nairobi's Karen area. The meeting, which took place on Thursday, extended late into the night as the leaders aimed to address the underlying cause of their differences and find a lasting solution. Mr Gachagua confirmed on X (previously known as Twitter) that he presided over the consultative meeting with elders and leaders from Kericho County.

The meeting was attended by various leaders including Senate Majority Leader Aaron Cheruiyot, who is also the Kericho Senator, former Roads Cabinet Secretary Franklin Bett, and Kenya Forests Service (KFS) chairman Job Chirchir.

Kenya is made up of 70 distinct micronations. At the moment Ndugu Samoei and Rigathi have concentrated on appointing majority of the positions in our government from the two groups that they come from. This is cruel, sad, morally wrong , and inappropriate.
Democracy as a political system has failed miserably since the Greek came up with the idea of this construct many years ago. For example, the first indigenous person in the US to be appointed a cabinet secretary is Debra Haaland. Just imagine from 1776 when the USA became independent, it has taken slightly over 245 years for the first indigenous person to be appointed to this position.
Ndugu Rigathi and Samoei should learn from the former President of the USA Barack Obama and Bill Clinton who appointed cabinet secretaries from the Republican Party while both belonged to the Democratic Party.
It's time that the bright minds of the world come together and develop an all-inclusive new political construct that will ultimately burry and replace the current hackneyed political systems i.e. communism, socialism, capitalism, and democracy that have failed humanity miserably.

I remember Gachagua being overwhelmed with emotions when he was being sworn in as the DP to a point he seemed to have developed dementia. At that moment, I assumed the weight of the work that lay ahead was weighing heavily on him and he was feeling helpless but little did he know he was going to be relegated to a position similar to a Mpango wa Kando. You know mpango wa kando is not supposed to be exposed and in most cases is seen only for convenience's sake. That is Gachagua for you. Jamaa aliambiwa ajishugulishe na mambo ya Mountain tu na asionakane outside that region na asahau mixing with foreign leaders. Love him or hate him but Ruto is one smooth operator but is a complete moron when it comes to making decisions that make life easier for Kenyans. Yeye ni siasa tu na "mambo matatu" mkileta umama.

@makantango - Gachagua is as blind to political happening as Raila is! They are both hell bent on exploiting the tribes they come from for their own convenience’s sake! The only difference between them is that Babaman knows how to brush his teeth, while Rigathi lets mold grow between his teeth and on top of his fiery tongue!

I have never benefited and neither do I expect to benefit from any MŪGÎKŪYŪ appointment to the cabinet or any other post.I challenge any of my tribes(wo)men to state how (s)he has personally benefited from Kamau,Mwai and Muigai’s presidencies at various times.I only know of heavy taxation like other Kenyans to pay loans the three gangsters stole. An good example is-I and millions of AGîkūyū like Nyako Iphone 4G are re-paying the shs 400b.EUROBOND & shs 230b.COVID loans which Muigai stole two years ago.

Surely Gachagua can’t be this stupid to lie to the people of Central that Ruto is not targeting them. Ruto’s plan is to destabilize the mountain folks by making them poorer than his small tribe of conmen and thieves back in Mogotio. Riggy must be in a very serious denial hole!

Appointments do not matter anymore. Let President Ruto do his job. Let us not speculate on his moves and intentions. Let Mt. Kenya take care of its affairs like it is actually doing. Ruto needs to do what he must.
Moi did what he had to do and Mt Kenya survived. Even this time it will not go anywhere.
Mt Kenya is not supposed to have a Kingpin. It is supposed to be God guided and not religion guided. Mt. Kenya faltered and asked for a king, it is slowly turning back to God.
May the will of God reign in Mt. Kenya
