Kenya Govt Grants Free Entry to National Parks on Jamhuri Day

Tourism Cabinet Secretary Alfred Mutua has made an exciting announcement in a bid to celebrate Kenya's 60th year of independence.

On Jamhuri Day, December 12, 2023, all Kenyan citizens will have the exceptional opportunity to explore and relish in the magnificence of our National Parks and museums completely free of charge. The intention behind this act is to empower Kenyans to partake in the joy of sightseeing and revel in the marvels that our nation has to offer. Alongside the National Parks, this generous opportunity extends to marine parks, animal orphanages, and the Safari Walk as well.

"In commemorating our 60th year of independence, the Government proudly announces free entry for Kenyan citizens to all national parks and museums on Jamhuri Day, December 12, 2023. This initiative aligns with our collective pride in being Kenyan and our desire for everyone to relish the gifts bestowed upon us by nature," he says.

The free entry will be available from 6 am to 6 pm, providing ample time for exploration. However, to take advantage of this offer, Kenyans will need to provide valid identification, such as their ID card. This requirement also applies to children, who must be accompanied by their parents or guardians.

In light of the expected influx of visitors, Kenya Wildlife Services (KWS) humbly requests for patience if a facility becomes overcrowded. This will enable departing visitors to make room for others, guaranteeing a seamless and enjoyable experience for all. Mutua also appeals to the Governors overseeing county governments responsible for national reserves to consider granting a comparable exemption, allowing every Kenyan citizen the chance to revel in and appreciate our shared heritage.
