How a Reckless Driver Ruined a Couple's Festive Season

This week, Ms Elizabeth Syokau's happiness was abruptly shattered when her husband, Mr Shadrack Kimuyu, was tragically struck down in Lang'ata sub-county, Nairobi County.
Before his premature death, Mr Kimuyu made a living as a sausage vendor along the busy Lang'ata Road. In an interview on Wednesday, Ms Syokau shared her joy upon discovering that her spouse would be coming back home to spend valuable time with her during the holiday season. She divulged that the earnings from his business not only sustained their family but also catered for his parents in their home in Matungulu Sub-County, Machakos County.
Amateur footage acquired by the media shows the immediate aftermath of the accident. The driver at fault has been identified as Mr Victor Otieno, an insurance company employee residing in the city. He had just left a lively bar in Lang'ata and was on his way home when the accident took place. In the unfortunate collision, he collided with a total of five individuals. Sadly, one person lost his life, while another is currently battling for survival at Nairobi Hospital. Fortunately, the remaining three individuals sustained minor injuries and are making good progress in their recovery.
Ms Mary Njenga, the mother of Mr Kenneth Njenga, a 28-year-old student at the United States International University (USIU), shared her optimism for her son's recuperation while he remains in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) at Nairobi Hospital. In an interview yesterday, she mentioned that her son had already undergone surgery at the same hospital. Despite Mr Njenga's ability to recount the event, he endures great suffering, evident by the tears streaming down his face.
According to Ms Njenga, her son recounted witnessing a group of middle-aged individuals entering a vehicle parked behind him while he was purchasing sausages, unaware that the driver was about to reverse.
