Kenyan Priest Honored With Global Peace Awards in the Philippines

During the recent Global Peace Awards Convention held in Manila, Philippines, Father John Mutie, a Kenyan priest, was recognized with the Interfaith and Spiritual Leadership Award.

The reputable Global Peace Foundation has granted him the prestigious accolade for his commendable efforts in advancing peace, creating interfaith collaborations and consolidating unity within Kenya. Father Mutie, who is a member of the Coptic Orthodox Church, holds significant positions as the National Chairman of the Interreligious Council of Kenya and the General Secretary of the Organization of African Instituted Churches – Kenya Chapter. The distinguished honour has been bestowed upon Father Mutie for his outstanding contributions to multiple undertakings that tackle pressing issues such as election-related violence, underage marriage, healthcare concerns, and environmental conservation. Likewise, Dr. Manu Chandaria, a renowned business personality, has been recognized with the Legacy of Service and Peace Award for his remarkable philanthropic involvement and admirable lifetime achievements. Dr. Chandaria has earned immense admiration by devoting his life to simplicity and serving humanity.

Through the founding of the Chandaria Foundation, Dr Chandaria has enabled the financing of crucial endeavours such as hospitals, clinics, schools, and universities, as well as environmental projects. Father Joseph Mutie's contributions to crucial matters of national interest are evident through his appointment to various roles including as a member of the IEBC selection panel, his participation in the Competency-Based Curriculum (CBC) taskforce, and his contribution to the National Parenting Manual Council.
