National Assembly Majority leader Kimani Ichung'wah has raised serious concerns about the management of public funds in Kiambu County under the leadership of Governor Kimani Wamatangi.
Ichung'wah alleges that Wamatangi is misappropriating county resources through dubious projects, specifically citing a program that distributes chicks and piglets to residents. According to Ichung'wah, this initiative lacks transparency and hinders proper auditing, making it difficult to hold the governor accountable for the use of public funds. He argues that these resources should be directed towards more pressing needs, such as improving healthcare facilities and infrastructure within the county.
Ichung'wah's accusations are echoed by Senator Karungo Wathang'wa who expresses frustration over the lack of accountability for the Sh1 billion allocated to Kiambu County every month. Wathang'wa points out critical shortcomings in essential services, including a lack of medicine in health centres, understaffing in hospitals, and inadequate basic amenities, highlighting the county's misplaced priorities.
Furthermore, Wathang'wa emphasizes the Senate's request for clarification from Governor Wamatangi on the expenditure of county funds on March 4th, underscoring the urgency of addressing these concerns. Adding to the criticism, Thika Town MP Alice Nganga points to a Sh50 million market funded by the national government as an example of a tangible contribution to the community, contrasting it with the governor's distribution of chicks and piglets, which she perceives as a thoughtless response to the community's needs.
On Friday, Ichung'wah faced an unfriendly crowd as he addressed Limuru locals. The occurrence took place during the launch of two new markets, where Ichung'wah openly criticized ex-President Uhuru Kenyatta. He alleged that Kenyatta and his family have manipulated Members of the County Assembly (MCA) to publicly defame him. Furthermore, Ichung'wah held Kenyatta, Governor Kimani Wamatangi, and Githunguri MP Gathoni Wamuchomba responsible for obstructing progress in Kiambu County.

Does Ishungwa now want to be the governor of Kiambu while still holding the majority leader’s position? Why does he have to do politics 24/7? Nonsense!
Can Ishungua shut the hell up and allow Wamatangi’s projects to gain steam? This old lad Kimani runs his damn mouth too much; he has got a big mouth and nothing much to show to the people of Kiambu.
