Printing of Ballot Papers for October 26th Repeat Election to Start

The Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) has confirmed the printing of ballot papers for October 26th election will commence soon.

Speaking during a meeting with election observers at Lilian Towers in Nairobi on Friday, IEBC Commissioner Roselyn Akombe said the commission will proceed to print the ballots with Dubai-based firm Al Ghurair since political parties rejected the offer by UNDP.

Akombe expresses confidence that the commission was well prepared for the repeat poll and urged all Kenyans to play their part by coming out to vote.

“In terms of logistics and technical operations, as a Commission we are confident we will be able to deliver a free, fair and credible poll. We will involve the media in all our operations and also allow live coverage in all constituencies,” Dr Akombe said.

She further said the commission will not rush to declare results this time round, saying that IEBC will take its time to make sure it does everything right.

“We have seven days. We will not be rushed to announce the results and we will not allow any pressure to our returning officers to announce results,” said Dr Akombe.

IEBC said it will go on with preparations for the repeat election despite the withdrawal of National Super Alliance Presidential candidate Raila Odinga from the race, citing refusal by the electoral commission to heed to their calls to institute reforms before holding the poll.

Yes, Kenyans and not kenyans will love you. Let those who never get fulfilled continue with street demos. The wrath of policies is awaiting. These choros are wakoras and political hooligans.
