President Uhuru Kenyatta Declared the Winner of the October 26th Repeat Presidential Election

The Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) has declared President Uhuru Kenyatta and Deputy President William Ruto the winners of the October 26th repeat presidential election.

IEBC Chairman Wafula Chebukati said Uhuru emerged the winner with 7,483,895, representing 98.26 of the 7,616,217 votes cast.Chebukati said Uhuru met the threshold of 50% + 1 of the votes cast and won at least 25% of the votes in at least half of the 43 counties.

"The total votes cast were 7,616,217 million and rejected ballots 37,713. This translates to a national voter turnout of 38.84 per cent," Chebukati said.

NASA leader Raila Odinga, who withdrew from the repeat election citing lack of reforms within the IEBC, garnered 73,228 votes, translating to 0.96 percent of the votes cast.

Uhuru was declared the winner without results from 25 constituencies from four Nyanza counties of Kisumu, Migori, Siaya and Homa Bay.

In a statement earlier in the day, the commission said it will declare the winner without results from the four counties after establishing they can't affect the final tally of the presidential outcome.

“Having completed the verification process of all results from the 266 constituencies that voted, and in accordance with Section 55B Article 3, IEBC is certified that results of the elections shall not be affected by voting in the areas where the process was postponed,” said IEBC vice-chair Consolata Nkatha Maina.

IEBC called off the poll in the 25 constituencies citing security if their staff due to threats by residents, who protested against the holding of the vote.

Other candidates in the race included Ekuru Aukot (Thirdway Alliance), Abduba Dida (Tunza Alliance), Cyrus Jirongo (UDF), independent candidates Michael Wainaina, Joseph Nyaga and Japheph Kaluyu Kavinga.

It is legal; the mandate to lead Kenya has been constitutionally given. The naysayers can go into the forest now. Wenye uchungu wajinyonge leo!

What civil society? The one that cries foul when thugs, gangs and murderers are shot dead, BUT keeps mum when police are killed by thugs.
We know DONOR FUNDS are the motivation for these civil society organizations masquerading as saviours.

Now that the election is over, and UHURU is the president. Both Jubilee and Nasa need to move the public towards NationBuilding. We need to move away from electioneering.Until 2022.

Raila can no longer help move Kenya forward. He has failed Kenya miserably!
He has NOT, and CANNOT, give Kenya the much needed OPPOSITION that Kenya needs desperately. He just opens his mouth when he is not able to get to the cake...for himself and his family, NOT for the sake of you and me, and definitely NOT for the people of Kenya.
Mkate quarter is all he is dying for right now. Pathetic!

@Doreen and Mbingu imbecile fools of nth degree, if u foolishly believe UK is an impostor and illegal president then swear in your devil worshipper as both your baba and president. Then you and other brainless imbeciles together with your evil god will finally know Kenya iko na wenyewe!!!! The foolishness of Luo and other brain dead goons who blindly worship a baba who doesn't know they exist till they are killed while purporting to fight for his misguided greedy political ambitions is beyond insanity. Kenya will become a GREAT NATION when this crazy old man kicks the bucket and goes straight to hell where he belongs after so much bloodshed and mayhem he has caused peace loving people of our beloved country. That will be a day for the whole country including his sheep herd in Luo Nyanza to celebrate!!!

Although I kinda see where you are coming from, given that RAO has been on the ballot for a looooong time, you talk as if RAO is the "standard Kenya presidential candidate" who has to be there for any election to be held. He is not the 'standard', elections can happen without him.

Didn't you see any other names on the ballot? Or what do you mean by saying UK was running against himself?

Fungua macho, kumekucha! That wave of darkness is over!

Raila needs to be extradicted from kenya - ama inaitwa nini hii ya kupotea kama Akombe

@anonymous bemoaning most people did't vote. You are right, because they opted not to, not because the polling station did not open. Choice is a great thing. This time around, like my favorite forumist here has pointed out, NASA lot chose to lalia kura zao nyumbani, so they they were not stolen! I, too saw some you tube clips showing only kuku wandering in poll stations in these areas. Democracy is a sweet thing used wisely. Go holler to your leader.
