Broke 74-Year-Old American Man Stranded in Nairobi after Kenyan Lover Kicked Him Out of Her House

A 74-year-old American man is currently stranded in Kenya after a Kenyan woman he has been living with kicked him out of her house.

Albert Lee Davis Jr says he met 65-year-old Elizabeth Wanjiku on an online dating website, where both were looking for love.

Davis says the woman convinced him to sell all his property in the US and move to her home in Nanyuki, Laikipia County.

He says Wanjiku told him there are numerous investment opportunities in Kenya that would guarantee him a good life during his sunset years in addition to her love. She told him she had not had a man for 28 years.

Davis Jr, who separated with his wife 18 years ago sold his house in Madisonville, Kentucky in order to move to Kenya to live with the woman he met online in 2010, Standard Digital reports.

The father of two says Wanjiku concealed her real physical appearance by posting a photo of a younger face as her profile picture on the site.

“We opened up to each other, sharing as much information as possible,” says Davis Jr who first knew Wanjiku was a teacher in Mombasa.

“She also said she was a successful businesswoman and a devout Christian owning rental houses and that she was a mother of one son who was killed in an internal civil war,” says Davis Jr.

Davis alleges that Wanjiku conned him of over Sh2.5 million in the two months he stayed with her and used the cash to open a wines and spirits shop and an M-Pesa outlet in Nanyuki town.

“I was detained at the airport in Addis Ababa (Ethiopia) for six days because of the big amount of cash I was carrying,” he narrates, adding that he was set free after intervention of the US embassy in Ethiopia.

He says he used to send her cash to expand her cyber café, chicken and rabbit businesses before he moved to Kenya.

“In 2012, she told me the cyber business had collapsed as well as the chicken venture since Kenyans in the country were no longer eating chicken and had turned to rabbit meat. She suggested that we start a rabbit rearing business. I sent her money for the business and she would send me pictures of rabbits in cages,” recalls Davis Jr.

“Ciiku kept reminding me how investing in Kenya was cheap and that I will not regret the returns on investment. She told me she was well connected since her father and Jomo Kenyatta were jailed together and were close buddies from the same tribe.”

The two parted ways in September this year after Davis was arrested by Kenyan immigration officials after they  found him working at their wines and spirits joint without a work permit.

The American says the arrest was a setup by his lover.

“On the fateful day, Ciiku asked me to man the till in the shop. I initially declined but she encouraged me. Soon, four people, including a woman, walked in and placed an order of drinks. Ciiku asked me to serve them but I told her I didn’t know the prices.  She gave me instructions on the price and who to write out the receipt to, which had been demanded by the customers. I was arrested by the same people who accused me of working without a permit,” he recounts.

The 74-year-old is currently being hosted by a well-wisher in Kahawa West estate after Wanjiku kicked him out.

He cannot travel back to the US because his passport was confiscated by Kenyan authorities during the arrest in September. He wants Wanjiku arrested and charged for defrauding him.

@Guest1/ You are a real idiot. Who are “Mambas”? Your hatred towards Kikuyu is just I’ll fated. Rails is not your father. He will never put a good on your table. Why do you have to connect this case with Raila losing election? Seriously, even after you saw Raila bowing to Uhuru you still hang on to their dirty politics?

Let me tell you, no matter you and others hate Kikuyu’s, we will keep on progressing. Every tribe has good and bad apples. When you realize that these politicians are not for you, that’s the time you’ll change your life.

Just grow up and face life. If you don’t want to see any Kikuyus around you or in Kenya or wherever you are, buy your own damn Island.

If this is true, Ciku is very heartless. She could get away with all because she is in Kenya, but remind her that Karma is a bad girl.

I don't know how people live with themselves after pulling these types of stunts. She may think she got away with it for a while, but she will pay for it dearly. Malipo ni hapa duniani tu....

Nasty woman! The guy is good spirited...naïve...but human. Rare these days. As for that Ciku woman, words fail me for once. Why? Cha haramu hakidumu, that's for sure! Now, as for that policy of arresting foreigners without a work permit, it is, in my view bure kabisa. They should arrest the employer and charge her. In this case, Ciku. She should be arrested and charged a high fee to teach her a lesson. Makes me feel ashamed. The guy is at an age when he should be retired and I give him credit for not opting or exploiting a much younger model, e.g 16 - 20 year old girl like some of them do. Aibu!

There are two sides to a story, but the mzungu had warning signs t by at he ignored and in short that ,"all that glitters is not gold",much less a bronze.
Could it be that their love had fizzed and reached the end.Blind faith is risky whether in religion,or love.Get some factual and concrete evidence before you act or believe.
And if he was conned that's not the end if the world.Dusk up and continuing with this being a very hard look learned lesson.
My advise to you is to try "grazing" at home and let the distant party come to you, that is if you have to graze beyond your bounderies.
Yes when it comes to love dont put trust in words, put it in actions. This should be a well known fact to all old men.

What goes around comes around. Wanjiku do not think you are lucky by deserving this old man. You will pay it dearly.

74 yr old nigga qualifys for SSI & Food stamps....get your sorry ass back to the States, check yourself in a homeless shelter and in no time the US government will offer you housing in no time unless you are a sex offender

@Maxwell, we are judging by what Mwakilishi puts on here. It is not for us to go looking for evidence. That said, I can't see how you can advice an old geezer to "dust up" and take it as a lesson. Fathom yourself at 75yrs, evidently beyond retirement. Your hard earned pension in tatters just because you believed and fell in love. You are right, all that glitters is not gold, and in this case, dare I say, was less than copper?! The woman could have shown him the door like regular people do when love says goodbye, but heck no, she had chewed the meat and then thought it a good idea to throw the bones to the wolves by calling the immigration dept! Huo ni unyama si utu Maxwell!

@ sukari, you are right what she did has no utu. But my take is he should have backed out when he realized that her appearance was deceptive...
Like I said, people are scammed/conned every day,and its terrible. But when signs are their that you might be conned, take off as fast as your legs can propel you...
Like I said probably the love sizzled, after the excitment of" nioneni mimi nimeoa mzungu... kutoka amerika." The the con game was hatched.
Yes the angel is us sometime tells us to give the benefit of the doubt,so if you are willing to take the risk, more powers to you.
I think the old geezer was conned. All right. And what does that make the lady? Athief.

So what advise would you give an old geezer like him.At 75 I would be preparing to join my ancestors any time,so there would be no time for looking for love. There is atime for every thing. Please see"my time for everything schedule":
Ages 0-14 = under parental care
AGES 14-18= Learning to be independent, but still under parents
Ages 18-23= you have discovered yourself
Ages 23-35 working,and looking for apartner,and love.
Ages 35- 49 continue working and raising afamily, and investing.
Ages 49- 65 working and enjoying family's/friends company
Ages 65-75 just kicking back and enjoying fruits of your labor.
Ages 75-..... start thinking of checking out,but continue having fun.
As you know, there are many variables in between those ages. And time line may be off by 2-4 years on someone else's timeline.See things get complicated when you to at 75 what you should have done at 23-35.I might also add that many have not follows what they should do in their age brackets, and thats'fine too, except they may not realize their full potential. My two cents.

Pity him our senior citizen. Love or promise of love is a spooky adventure, and he who gets hurt in an adventure has no one to blame. The beauty of life is not in trusting naively but in learning who and how to trust. They say one who leaves his land to search the comfort and love in a foreign land finds neither love nor ease- I don't know how true that is. I guess this is what is literally called potelea mbali!, comeback home to US and tell the tale of Nanyuki the land of sunshine and a white-caped mountain from afar. Money is like a ghost, the moment it leaves you hands you only see its mirage in other different places. If Jiko can do this at this age you can only imagine how many Juniors have cried in the toilets because of her sting, and how many descendants of Jikos are of age out there.

He is not the first one to be taken advantage off by Kenyan women.

Infact, Three in every five men are going through the same situation in Kenya at the moment.
That is why we have so men die before they retire. That is why we have the Save Your Husband Movement.

SAVE YOUR HUSBAND!

Why do husbands in Africa die most times before wives? A husband in Africa in most cases is under intense tension because he is responsible for:

● Children school fees

● house rentals

● Electricity bills

● Medical bills

● Car fuel and repairs

● Feeding of family

● Clothes for children

● Christmas and New year bills

● Furniture & House maintenance

● In-laws demand

● His own aged parents

● His siblings most times

● His wife's demands

● Erecting Building

● Religious demands

● Family social bills

● Electronics bills

● Recharge cards

● Extended family bills

● Community demands

On top of the above, he also faces:

● Wife stress/insults

● Boss stress at work

● Police stress on the way

● Area boys stress

● Friends stress

● Economy stress

● Fear of job loss

● Unemployment pains

● Children misbehaviour

● Neighbours stress

● Bank loan payment stress

● Enemies stress

● Demonic attack stress

● Sex stress

..and so on! OMG!!

Are these reasons not enough for all African Wives to understand and give their husbands peace at home? Are men not trying? How can an African man with these kind of loads be romantic like an American man?
Women, please give your husband's peace at home. Encourage your husbands. Stop being sarcastic to them. Except if you like to join the widows club early! Note:
That club is not funny. Ask members. Help your husband. Contribute to the family. Be a helper. Be submissive. Stop nagging. Build your home and marriage. It is not greener outside there. Don't be deceived!!
Help your husband to live longer like you.

Maxiley…..a thief she is and for that she deserves the same fate of arrest. Your time schedule is fine at a glance, lakini LIFE happens and many, including myself do not conform to the status quo. The novelty wore off you may be right, lakini she didn't have to take it to that level. It takes a certain kind of person to be that cold. If you have been strong enough to walk from a situation when you are caught up between the heart and brain, kudos to you Maxwell! I for one have been caught in a situation when I opted to listen to my heart rather than my brain. In hindsight, stupid, stupid mistake that those around me could see but myself! I wish the guy well, lakini that cucu did him wrong. Karma is a bitch and boy do I believe so!
