President Kenyatta Gets Rousing Welcome in Kisumu

President Kenyatta was treated to a rousing welcome by leaders and residents upon landing in Kisumu ahead of his two-day tour of the region.

The plane carrying Kenyatta and First Lady Margaret Kenyatta touched the ground at the Kisumu International Airport at around 11 am and was received by Opposition leader Raila Odinga, Kisumu Governor Anyang Nyong'o and several other leaders from the region.

Kenyatta is scheduled to launch the pilot Universal Health Coverage (UHC) program for Kisumu County that is expected to cost Sh3.9 billion. The pilot UHC plan targets four counties namely; Kisumu, Machakos, Isiolo, and Nyeri.

President Uhuru has also presided over the groundbreaking ceremony for the construction of Ahero Interchange and has made brief stopovers at Ahero and Nyamasaria, where he had addressed residents.
“We said the person best suited to unite Africa is Raila. Those saying the handshake was fake should wait and see what will happen in this country, Every Kenyan will feel they are part of the Government and this is how we will achieve lasting peace),” President Uhuru said while speaking in Ahero.
He is accompanied by Odinga, Deputy President William Ruto, Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka, Jubilee party Secretary General Raphael Tuju and a host of other leaders from Nyanza region.

Kenyatta will also inspect the progress of several projects including construction of Kakamega-Kisumu highway and later attend a luncheon with local leaders.

This is the first time the President is visiting the region since the historic March 9th handshake between him and Odinga.

@ Nani, those youve mentioned are the masters of hatred. I guess they thought they knew Baba well but he left them long time ago.

Am very proud of Luo’s.

Secession is what will stop the targeted killings of Luo’s by the Kenya police.

Unity is what made Nyanza and its localities a marginalized region.

Central Kenya is questioning the benefits of voting for the boy in statehouse. Six years in and nothing to show for block voting.

Diana and Guest1, your resentment against Kikuyus is akin to your swallowing of poison pills and expecting all Kyuks to disappear. Comedian and radio presenter Jalang'o recently referred to haters as confused fans.
