Posta Inks Deal with US Company to Offer Doorstep Delivery Services to Kenyans

The Postal Corporation of Kenya (PCK) has struck a partnership deal with US-based logistics company Seagate to offer doorstep delivery services to Kenyans.
The partnership allows Kenyans to buy items from international e-commerce companies and have them delivered to their doorsteps.
Under the deal, Seagate will ship to Nairobi goods bought by Kenyans from global online shops such as Amazon and e-Bay. Once the goods arrive in Nairobi, Posta will deliver the items to buyers' homes.
“Everybody is getting into the internet and buying stuff from China, the US and everywhere but nothing comes from us. Seagate brings in and opens the doors for Kenyan SMEs to access the market in the US,” says postmaster general Dan Kagwe.
“It opens that logistics presence for PCK into the US which is also an extremely big achievement,” the Posta boss adds.
The doorstep delivery services will be made easier once the Communications Authority of Kenya (CA) completes the rollout of a national addressing system, where streets, buildings, and homes will get specific numbers.
Data from UNCTAD shows that Kenya has the third highest number of online shoppers in Africa (2,614,000), behind Africa Nigeria and South Africa.
Last year, Posta announced it was in talks with Amazon executives in a bid to make the government-owned firm their logistics partner in Kenya.

Am i the only person who don't trust anything Kenya? I have a few questions;
1. If it's almost impossible to get a representative pick up a call in our DC kenya - embassy, will it be possible to speak a posta rep in kenya incase of urgent problem or item as not been received.2. Will they provide any tracking services.3. any guarantee delivery services and or replacement incase of any breakages/stolen items? 4. Will i be paying extra delivery cost to posta or just the main delivery cost to Seagate? This could be a great idea but I am sorry, I don't trust posta. La, hasha!

I think it's okay to partner with others to expand the market for goods and services, but the local delivery part ought to be Kenyan controlled so we can provide jobs and keep revenue at home. Otherwise, we are just useless consumers; Goods bought from abroad, they deliver them to Kenya and now they want to make door to door delivery at home; so what is our role in this equation ? Why do we need a foreignor going door to door? What can we ever do for ourselves?

The idea of address system in Kenya was broached over 40 yrs ago but nothing came through.
There is going to be exchange of money in the process and as sure as there is hell, a Kenyan is going to get some.
Let's hope it works. There are benefits associated with this kind of service. Lakini, what to do about the politicians.
