How Bishop Gakuyo Wired Sh1.5 Billion Ekeza Sacco Members' Savings to a Personal Account

An audit report has revealed how Bishop David Kariuki Ngari alias Gakuyo channeled members' savings from the Ekeza Sacco account to a personal account only accessed by himself and his wife.

The report reveals that the founder and chairman of Ekeza Sacco used the cash to fund his lifestyle and acquire numerous personal properties worth millions of shillings.

The audit report compiled by a team appointed by Commissioner for Cooperatives Mary Mungai last year shows that Gakuyo wired the funds to his personal account between 2015 and 2017.

The report was presented to Ekeza Sacco members during a special general meeting held at Moi International Sports Centre Kasarani on Thursday.

It shows that Gakuyo transferred Sh88 million to his account in 2015, Sh850 million in 2016 and a further Sh625 million in 2017.

Of the Sh1.5 billion wired to his account, Sh507 million was loaned to a section of Ekeza Sacco members who sought to purchase homes under Chosen Green City, a housing project in Kabati, Murang’a County.

The housing project was being undertaken by Ekeza's sister company, Gakuyo Real Estate.

“So we can say the money Gakuyo owes members is about Sh1 billion. This is the money he took illegally and without any approval of the members, and it is the money we want him to pay,” the report prepared by appointed liquidator-receivers Philip Ulluma and Stephen Njoroge reads.

The society's Vice-chairman James Kimani and former CEO Gladys Wanjiku facilitated the transactions.

The team wants authorities to seize Gakuyo's properties in a bid to recover Sh1 billion he illegally withdrew from Ekeza.

“All staff who irregularly loaned themselves monies from Ekeza must make arrangements to repay the monies or will have their properties seized to recover the same,” says the report.

All the so called saccos need to be audited. Officials and staff there are millionaires while members languish in poverty. I thought it Should be the other way around.

If the current trend is anything to go by, how many people can he possibly "buy" with 1 billion and get away with it?
As Per Part 1 (Fourth Schedule, Article 185 (2), 186 (1) and 187 (2), Function of National Government includes;
(i) Consumer protection, including standards for social security and professional pension plans.
(ii)Monetary policy, currency, banking (including central banking), the incorporation and regulation of banking, insurance and financial corporations.
When shall these functions be evoked to the protection of the common mwananchi?

You lie! Some of the handles you just quipped did not exist in 2014. I checked. But I don't disagree with your claim. I even pushed hard against this reverend too. I don't trust most people of the collar.

He is a Bishop. In his role as Bishop, he calls people to the Alta, pray for them, and declare them saved. But the Bible does lay out what people must do to be saved and who will save then. God told us that, This is my only begotten Son. Whomsoever shall believe in him shall have everlasting life. God's only son is Jesus, not your pastor, not your Bishop and not the Pope. Both Bible and the Quran say Jesus will come to judge the world at the end of time. The Bible further says that those who shall have believed in him shall be saved. Thus, our job is to believe in Him, not to be bowing before our pastor, Bishops or Pope so that the can declare us saved. No pastor, Bishop or Pope has ever had the power to save. That is a power that God has bestowed to only one Person--Jesus. Because Pastors and Bishop's and even the Pope have all often exercised the power of saving people, that is why there are millions who go around claiming, "nie ndimuhonoku, Am saved, Born again" etc.,and none of them have the power to save, they have been lying to their perishoners so that "gashunje ga ikumi" can drop in their pockets. Thus, this Sacco should not have trusted it's money to one who makes a living telling people that he can save them knowing very well that he does not have the power to save.He is a career lier.

Mr.Mjuaji, if you've never been fooled or conned, your day is coming & we won't call you a fool for falling prey! Anyway, Mr. Gakuyo & your accomplices know that your days are numbered & the consequences are inevitable! Peace!
