High Court Orders Arrest of Kisumu Governor Nyong’o

A Kisumu court on Thursday issued a warrant of arrest against Kisumu Governor Anyang’ Nyong’o and his sister Dr. Risper Nyagoy for contempt.

High Court Justice Tripsisa Cherere also committed the two to civil jail for one month.

Governor Nyong'o and Dr. Nyagoy were found guilty of disregarding two court orders issued on October 2018 and May 2019.

In October 2018, the court directed the two siblings to submit books of account of the multi-million-shilling estate left behind by their late father Hesbone Shimei Nyong’o.

In May this year, the two were ordered to pay a fine of Sh400,000 each for disobeying an earlier order issued by the court.

The court fined the two after they skipped the May hearing, saying they were preparing for the burial of their mother Dorcas Owino Nyong'o.

“They will pay another 50,000 each monthly should they fail to honor the court orders after the expiry of the 30-days fine,” the judge ordered in May.

On Thursday, Justice Cherere ordered Kisumu County Commander Benson Maweu to execute the arrests.

In October last year, the High Court ordered Governor Nyong’o and Nyagoy to include their nephews and nieces as beneficiaries of their father’s Sh200 million estate.

Judge Cherere also revoked the administrative letters and certificate of confirmation of grant that placed Nyong’o and Nyagoy as the sole controllers of the estate.

She also appointed their nephew, Kenneth Odhiambo Okuthe as co-administrator of the estate. Shimei Nyong’o died in 2006 without a will.

Ngoja tu utajionea mwenyewe.

Why is this killer allowed to roam anywhere in Kenya. He should have been jailed and his money frozen like a common murderer.

Confusing him with governor Obado. Anyway, it just shows how families have rotten down especially when you forget about morals & entertain greed! Will Nyongo's son, who dresses wierdly also have a share in the estate?

This is the problem with the so called waheshimiwa. They think that the laws are there to protect them from the commoners. We have to make them get off their high horses, and realize that they are not above the law. Being in contempt of the court should be taken as aserious matter. Its akin to disobeying orders from your commander...
