Kenya to Get Six Military Choppers from the US
Kenya is set to receive six military helicopters from the United States before the end of this year.
This was announced on Friday by Arizona-based plane manufacturer MD Helicopters, according to UK-based arms magazine IHS Jane's Defense Weekly.
“Kenya will receive all six of the MD Helicopters Inc MD 530F Cayuse Warrior Scout and light-attack platforms it ordered in 2018 by the end of this year, the manufacturer confirmed on September 13,” IHS Jane's Defense Weekly reported on Monday.
The six-light attack helicopter gunships are part of the 12 military choppers Kenya ordered from the US in a arms deal worth Sh25 billion. The deal for the acquisition of the military equipment got the approval of the United States Congress in May 2017.
The weapons were initially set to be delivered to Nairobi between April and August this year and MD Helicopters did not give reasons for the delay.
Last year, the US Defense Security Co-operation Agency (DSCA) said the helicopters will help Kenya “modernize its rotorcraft fleet in order to improve border security, undertake operations against Somalia-based jihadist group Al-Shabaab and contribute to the African Union Mission in Somalia (Amisom).”

This might have made sense in 2015 but now it's almost 2020. Drones are better for attack. Not to mention in Kenya they will be used to transport politicians and their families to vacations.

PEOPLE NEED TO RAISE AN ALARM OVER THIS ARMS RACE GOING ON HERE. The other day, they poured millions of dollars of guns in Kenya, then the war tankers now aircraft. Kenyans need to question this thoroughly and STOP IT! These guns and ammunition will not be used against al-shabaab, they will end up killing our fellow Kenyans. I KEEP SAYING HERE, THAT THE WAR IN SOMALIA IS NOT KENYA'S WAR! Kenya is being used as a proxy and when all is said and done, these same weapons will be used against our own people! That is what the US Government wants! THAT IS WHY THEY ARE POURING ALL THESE AMMUNITION IN THE COUNTRY, APPROVING DEALS TO DO WITH GUNS VERY QUICKLY!With the drilling of oil in Kenya, War will erupt. Kenya will be rendered usel and incapable, because some people covet that oil and will do WHATEVER IT TAKES to get their hands on it. KENYANS AND KENYAN LEADERS WAKE UP! Remember we are also heading to an election year, where there is too mjch uncertainty. Stop this before our own people end up dead when this could've been prevented!
