Chinese Embassy Warns Kenyans Against Discriminating its Citizens

The Chinese Embassy in Nairobi has warned Kenyans not to discriminate against its citizens over coronavirus fears.

In a statement posted on its social media pages on Thursday evening, the embassy expressed concerns over irresponsible and racist remarks directed to Chinese nationals in Kenya, warning that this could endanger their lives.

“We call upon a rational and scientific approach towards Chinese communities, firmly object any irresponsible and even racist remarks as seen from one of the MPs today,” the embassy said.

It also warned Kenyans against spreading falsehoods, citing an incident where locals suspected a Chinese woman had contracted coronavirus after she was spotted wearing a mask at her apartment in Athi River on Thursday.

“After verification with the Chinese communities, we wish to inform the public that there is only one female Chinese national who stays in that estate and arrived in Kenya yesterday.”

“She followed the instructions issued by the Ministry of Health and the Embassy and quarantined herself in her apartment upon arrival. The other Chinese national seen wearing a mask walking around her colleague who had gone to deliver daily necessities to her,” the embassy explained.

“As the rumor went viral, the Ministry of Health sent officials to examine the lady in quarantine and established that she is in good condition.”

They are “warning” Kenya is just ridiculous. Why are they going to Kenya in numbers if they feel discriminated? People have a right to fear their lives and to get concerned. First you need to warn your own especially those Chinese that has been caning employees.

May I remind the Chinese embassy that what he calls racist discrimination is "safety discrimination ".Even the most scientific Kenyans on ecountering a chinese or even Japanese wearing a mask , given the current coronavirus concerns would be unnerved.
What is racist is Chinese is China thinking Africans in their country have aids.Even if they did,its not contagious. We know how Aids/Hiv is transmitted. So chinese have no reason to worry unless they would be having unprotected sex or sharing needles...with infected africans.
May also remind the embassy that not all but afew of their comrades have behaved badly, and have mistreated kenyans.Worst, calling our beloved predident adog. One would be hard pressed to find similar abuse from kenyns who live in china.

So now they do not like racism, racists numero uno - Chinese people are so racist not just in Kenya, anywhere they reside! Yeah that is how it feels like , not pretty is it When their Nationals even insulted the president, they didn't seem so concerned. I feel no pity! If they do not like it, they can leave

Kind of funny to have the Chinese Embassy in Kenya warning Kenyans against discriminating its Chinese citizens in a Kenya.

The same Chinese who are regularly discriminating Kenyans in their own country? This is far from being ridiculous!

Kenyans must take a strong stand against anyone discriminating them in Kenya. Very serious and unacceptable.
