Four Kenyan Senators Stuck in Germany over Coronavirus Scare

Four Kenyan senators are presently stuck in Germany due to difficulties in traveling back to Nairobi following the outbreak of coronavirus.

The four, who are members of the Senate Trade Committee, traveled to Berlin to attend a trade summit but the forum was canceled soon after they arrived over coronavirus fears, according to The Star.

Germany has so far confirmed over 150 cases of the deadly virus, the second-highest number in Europe after Italy. As a result, various international airlines have canceled flights due to fears of the highly contagious disease.

The Senators include Charles Kibiru (Kirinyaga), Christopher Langat (Bomet) and Mwangi Githiomi (Nyandarua). The identity of the fourth Senator was not immediately established.

Senate Speaker Kenneth Lusaka told The Star that the Senators had traveled for official duty and are making plans to fly back after the event was called off.

“They are making their own arrangements to come back home, maybe tomorrow or the day after. Some of these procedures are complicated,” said Lusaka.

The four had reportedly checked into a high-end hotel in Berlin for one week and their request for a refund after the forum was called off was rejected.

Why should the tax payers pay to evacuate the Senators from Germany, while 100 students are still stuck in Wuhan, China?

Federal rate of per diem in USA per day is about $55 depending on the city and state. This Kenyan crooks get per diem of $1,200 per day. How many people in USA make $1,200 per day?

They'd walk themselves to the gallows/noose for per diems....boneheads. If anything we should be reading about the Kenyan students on ground zero...not these per-diem hunters.

What is this Kenyan fascination with "high end"? Mara ni vw passat au Ford Ranger and now in Germany one must be seen and known to be staying in a "high end" hotel. Can't we just live within our means? This is why Kenya is broke
