Former 'Omo-Pick-A-Box' Show Host Lorna Irungu Dies of COVID-19

Kenyan media personality Lorna Irungu–Macharia has passe away from COVID-19 complications.

Until her death, Lorna was serving as the Managing Director of Gina Din Group - a leading communications consultancy company that was recently acquired by Edelman, an American public relations and consultancy firm.

Lorna previously worked as a radio presenter at Nation FM and host of the famous 'Omo-Pick-A-Box' show on KTN.

Lorna had battled Lupus, an inflammatory disease caused when the immune system attacks its own tissues, for over 20 years. She had also undergone several kidney transplants.

She leaves behind her husband Edwin, and a daughter.

Kenyans and her former colleagues in the media industry took to social media to mourn Lorna’s death.

Tourism CS Najib Balala tweeted: “Lorna was a good friend and a true professional in the media and communications field. May her soul rest in eternal peace.”

Veteran journalist David Makali wrote: “Farewell Lorna Irungu, you were a pacesetter and a jolly, bubbly soul. Memory is reserved for such as you. You surely shall be missed. Devastating.”

Singer Suzanna Owiyo said: “I will remember you for the warm hospitality you accorded me during Pres. Obama’s luncheon in Kogelo. Rest with the angels Lorna Irungu.”
