Dreams are Valid: Former Kakuma Refugee Buys a $2.8 Million Home in Los Angeles
Adut Akech Bior, a former refugee in Kenya, has purchased a four-bedroom house in the US. The 21-year-old South Sudan-born Australian model announced she acquired the property in Los Angeles for $2.8 million. The house, her fifth property and the first in the US has four bedrooms an open-plan living area, and outdoor space with a pool and spa.
“I did it. I bought my first house in America!” she wrote on Instagram. “I’m usually quiet about personal things like this, I just be moving in silence but this one is too big of an achievement and proud moment for me to not share with the world.”
Akech was raised at Kakuma refugee camp in northern Kenya for eight years before moving to Adelaide, Australia alongside her mother.
She made her name in the Australian beauty industry at the age of 18, having been introduced to modelling in 2017, a few months after graduating from high school in Adelaide
In 2019, CNN described Akech as a globe-trotting supermodel traveling across major global cities including New York. In 2018, she became the second black model to close the Chanel Haute Couture Fall 2018 show in Paris, France.
She has also featured in several editions of Vogue Magazine in Italy, Korea, and the United Kingdom in addition to appearing in major advertising campaigns in the beauty industry.
"My career as a model makes me a nomad by default. My home is now in multiple places around the world, my life is an arrow constantly pointing forward," she said.

I have lived and worked in many countries across the globe to include Germany and Norway! These countries heavily tax you once you venture to work over 40 hours a week! It is extremely hard to accumulate money in Germany because of over taxation unless you are an expatriate working there from the USA!
If anyone can not make in America, please do not expect to easily make it in those other places in the world!

The social systems in Norway and Germany works very well! When I was there in Norway, a country of 5 million people, they were fully covered with medical insurance, if a lady gets pregnant, she is govern a two years maternity leave from work, $30,000 to make comfortable as the baby develops, etc. Norwegians get two annual vacations to the destination of their choice - men go to Africa to search sisters for love, and some women do so too! Education is fully paid! Public trans is subsidized and it works efficiently! Subsidized housing is available! The only down side is that those who are employed pay 60% income taxes! Gas is very expensive so few Norwegians own cars! The country is very beautiful but extremely cold! Roads are decent! The only thing I didn’t like is the long wait to see a doctor! Services in public offices were very confused! Sister there surely love brothers… are you ready to move @maxiley!

@maxiley, I was in Serasota in June on a beach bombing vacation! I was also looking for a vacation condo down there in Serasota! I traveled extensively from Tampa, Disney land, hang out in Serasota and drove to Miami to see a good ol fren! I really like Serasota my fren! It is beautiful out there! It is also easy to travel by train in Germany, and you do not need a visa to travel to the neighboring Shegen countries! Also those countries are close together! Many are quite friendly to a brother! No Mississippi, Alabama, Georgia crap where the kkk are always on your ass!
Also leasing a new Benz in Germany is not all that expensive if you chose to drive! But the electric train is much faster and no hustle figuring the roads.
Do not go to Bavaria areas though - the chics there are a little stuck up! Not as bad as the US Southern tips! They just feel quite entitled because BMW and Mercedes are made in Munich!
Norwegians chics take a few days to warm up to a visitor! Moving around Norway is not as easy and as cheap as it is in Germany! Also Norway is the most expensive country in the world next to the State of California, and maybe New York! A hotel in Norway will easily dig you $300.00 a night!
One thing I will say, both countries are very safe, very beautiful and friendly! zBut in the recent past Polazi (police) are known to hustle Turkish and African men!
You also need to watch out the Turkish guys - they will hwoop your ass if they see you messing with their Turkish women!
Food in both countries is fairly priced! But a Hamburg cost about $25.00 without French fries and a diluted soda in Norway, but cheaper in Germany! Italy has the cheapest food and xyz….! It is very hot in Italy in summer - went to Venice in July and it was devilish hot!
Another place you need to visit is Budapest in Hungary, Zagreb in Croatia, Portugal, or Ukraine - in the summer though when the she-goats are nicely dressed to kill and out; eeehh looking! Already bro!

@maxiley - please understand apartments in Germany are fairly small sized! Please invite him to Florida first to show him the real world and some good clean fun! Then see if he can get you to Germany usually in the fall when it’s not too hot or very cold! The living setting in Germany is the same thing with England - very small squired living places.
The only part of England I would hesitate to visit is the Camden area! Lots of Kenyans and Africans live there! I stayed at Holbrook Hotel near Camden and it was quite expensive! Check it out on line!! There, all the criminals find homage there in these run down Adams Acarde looking building. Nairobi’s Adams Acarde if far much nicer as compared to Camden! It is not too far from the Thames River and down town!
I have never been to Bikina Faso! Just go and learn something g about the mother continent! I have to Nigeria’s Victoria Island! Quite nice but still in Nigeria where they will not hesitate to put a tire in your neck and set you on fire if you steal a kuku!
The other place I will not go is Panama City in Panama! I got nagged by the Sues Canal on my way to Belice and Coastal Rica! Lost my wallet, money, cards, etc but I survived!

As for Germany, the only best social system there is the Autobahn and the train (I think it called Bahnhoven) system! They make Mercedes Benz, Austin Martin, Porsche, Audi, and a few other moto.
Their hospitals are not so clean and poorly equipped. Shopping centers have low quality clothes not anywhere comparable to American store in terms of quality, and class! Shoes sack - both dress shoes, luxury and athletics shoes. The cell phone system is a reap off but you can find some cheap calling to call Africa!
Now @maxiley - The German women die for the tan skinned brothers - they will kill to have “brotherly love” pronto! There other very gorgeously made women from Italy, Chek Republic, Russia, Ukraine, bunch from East Europe, Poland, etc. Germany is a women’s fest is you love women and they are very straight forward in there demands from a brother!
Most of them women drink alcohol day, night and in between like an old Hino Truck! You don’t need to know how to talk to get a really sexy chic in Germany @maxiley! They will approach you, harass you quite a bit with millions of curious questions, buy you foods and drinks, etc! Just a fabulously good time!
The German guys there are pretty weak and lay back in many aspects! The girl-power rules the world there! But the guys there can only put up with some drunk sisters from Africa - all over Africa, that tend to think they have arrived because they can now drink alcohol like a she-hino! And then hang out in Smokey pubs looking for love from some old seemingly moneyed Germans! You will see a fairly decent looking African chic romancing some shaggy looking old guy for some papers and a cheap place to live and eat!
Housing in Germany is so so - mostly not air conditioned but the summers are quite short! I lived in Munich but I did not like the way the city is planned! The country sides are very beautiful and I loved pushing a Porsche on the Autobahn to the limit especially in the no-speed-limit zones! Mercedes and Audis are the taxi vehicles there! Porsche is fairly high class to own in Germany! You become a women magnet if you own one! Are you ready to move @maxiley??

Owning a house is an investment because the property gains in value! Yes, there are other investment vehicles out there but I always buy a house any where I have lived and have never lost money when I sell it! @Kinyanjui, a house is indeed an investment - real estate in LA has appreciated 105% in the last 10 years. A 15 year mortgage for someone with good credit is below 2.5%. The house will be appreciating at rate better than her interest. She will have immense equity in a few years and can turn around and sell at a profit. Her property here can't simply be stolen by crooked Ruto types without due process. It's not perfect but it's more secure. She is probably not interested in making between 170-240k shillings selling eggs and 320k selling milk or renting out little shacks. We do have REITs that take modest investment amounts right here in the USA. Anyone who says she shouldn't buy property here and should instead invest in Kenya is either totally ignorant or a complete moron. Chickens and cows get sick and die, eggs go bad and tenants can become jobless.
