Devolution Principal Secretary Julius Korir Charged with Wife Battery

Devolution Principal Secretary Julius Korir was charged on Monday with assaulting his estranged wife Everlyn Chepkorir Koech.
Korir appeared in court after 3:00 pm after Milimani law courts Chief Magistrate Susan Shitubi issued a warrant for his arrest for skipping court attendance.
Magistrate Shitubi declined to give the accused more time to settle the matter out of court, saying the court had given him many weeks to do so.
On March 1st, the magistrate gave Korir 30 days to settle the assault case with his estranged pregnant wife failure to which he will be officially charged.
Korir is accused of assaulting Evelyn while pregnant, occasioning her actual bodily. He is said to have committed the offense at Ndalat Road in Karen, Nairobi, on September 17th, 2020.
The prosecution told the court that Korir had been indulged several times, but the resolution of the matter in an amicable way was not forthcoming.
The PS pleaded not guilty to the charges and was freed on a bond of Sh20,000. The case will be mentioned on April 19th when pre-trial directions will be issued.
