Widow of Johana Ng’eno Appointed to State Corporation Board
Ms Nayianoi Ntutu has been appointed to the board of the Information and Communications Technology Authority (ICTA), marking her return to public service weeks after the death of her husband, Emurua Dikirr MP Johana Ng’eno.
Ms Ntutu, an advocate, will serve a three-year term beginning 2 April 2026. Her appointment was announced in the Kenya Gazette by the Cabinet Secretary for Information, Communication and the Digital Economy, William Kabogo.
Her appointment comes amid heightened political activity in Emurua Dikirr following the United Democratic Alliance (UDA) primaries ahead of the May by-election. Businessman David Kipsang Keter narrowly defeated Bernard Ngeno, a former aide to the late MP, in a closely contested race marked by high voter turnout.
Mr Ng’eno, who served three consecutive terms as MP, died on 28 February in a helicopter crash in Nandi County. The accident claimed six lives, including those of a pilot, a journalist and several government officials.
Ms Ntutu had initially been endorsed by her husband’s family as a potential candidate for the parliamentary seat. She later withdrew, citing ill health and the strain of bereavement.
On 1 April, she made her first public appearance since the funeral, visiting victims of a road accident in Bomet County who had been injured while travelling to a campaign rally. She later addressed residents at Emurua Dikirr trading centre, thanking them for their support during her family’s loss and affirming her continued engagement with the constituency.
Her role at ICTA places her within a key institution as Kenya advances efforts to strengthen digital infrastructure and governance. The appointment also maintains her involvement in public affairs following her decision not to contest the parliamentary seat.
