Notorious Criminal Gang Leader Paul Mureithi Naomi Gunned Down in Nairobi

Police in Starehe, Nairobi on Wednesday gunned down a notorious gangster believed to be the leader of a Ruai-based criminal gang behind a series of violent crimes in the area.

Paul Mureithi Naomi, alias Muruthi, was fatally injured after detectives from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) Starehe division lay siege to his rented house in Ruai's Githunguri area following intelligence leads.

During the operation, one of the DCI officers posed as a barter trader, popularly known as ''maree maree'', and approached Mureithi's house in a bid to establish whether the wanted suspect was inside.

"Known for high level deception while smoking out hardened criminals, one of the detectives posing as a ‘mali mali’ dealer had approached the thug’s neighbourhood shouting mareeeee, mareeeeee! while carrying some basins and laundry baskets," DCI says in a statement.

"He then knocked on the thug’s door repeatedly until the miscreant unlatched the door halfway. Niukugura mare? (Will you buy mare?) posed the officer. Dikwenda na dugoke guku ringi! (I don’t want and don’t come back here!) retorted the thug as he banged the door."

Having confirmed that Mureithi was in his house, detectives came back moments later seeking an audience with him but he opted not to open his door and instead opened fire on the sleuths via his window, prompting the officers to retaliate.

"Moments later, the thug was subdued and the sleuths gained entry to the house, where his lifeless body was sprawled on the floor. A Ceska pistol serial number B 681256 loaded with four rounds of 9mm calibre was recovered, while 11 spent cartridges littered the scene," said DCI.

Preliminary investigations have established that the Ceska pistol had been stolen from a registered civilian firearm holder a week ago, in an incident that saw the victim lose over Sh500,000 in valuables.

The body of the deceased was moved to City Mortuary after detectives processed the crime scene.

Good job! Give those DCI’s a reward of some sort that will encourage them to keep hunting these criminals who’ve terrorized the citizens down!

Now, why announce the tactics you use to ‘confirm’ the presence of the criminals? Now all genuine maree maree people won’t be able to freely sell in notoriously gang neighbors as they may be mistaken identities to criminals as snitches or undercover cops? Not so intelligent!

A world renowned itinerant Jewish carpenter taught us that the wages of sin is death. Paul Mureithi Naomi, alias Muruthi should have payed attention.

Good job. But criminals are like roaches, leave one alive and soon you have same problem as before. Better to eliminate them all one by one.
