Gachagua: I Have Forgiven Police Officers Who Undressed Me Before My Children

Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has said they will not punish those who were used by former President Uhuru Kenyatta’s administration to frustrate President Ruto and him in the run-up to the August elections.

Gachagua said Ruto and himself have decided to forgive their tormentors, including a group of police officers who allegedly undressed him during his arrest at his Nyeri home in July 2021 over graft allegations.

"Hata yule polisi Uhuru alituma kwangu hamsini wakanitoa nguo mbele ya watoto na bibi yangu nimewasamehe. Siku ingine musifanyie binadamu vile mumetufanyia, Mungu akiwapa nafasi ya kufanya,” he said.

The deputy president, who spoke during a thanksgiving service in Eldoret, Uasin Gishu County on Sunday, said Kenyans need to embrace forgiveness to move forward.

"Because we are Christians, President William Ruto and I have forgiven everyone so that we can move forward as a country," he added.

Gachagua thanked the people of Uasin Gishu and the larger Rift Valley region for their entrusting the Kenya Kwanza alliance with the mandate to lead the country.

"Tunasema asante, mlitutendea wema. Mimi sina maneno ya kusema. Sijui nitasema nini. Hata Ruto akija hapo atashindwa kuongea," he said, adding that he sometimes finds it hard to believe he is the deputy president.

"With what had been planned, sometimes we still don't believe that Ruto is President, and I am the Deputy President," said Gachagua.

ha ha , ati kii ... gachagua, can you please behave like a VP, tiga gucambia andu a mathira ( stop embarrassing Mathira people)

Why say this when we understand you already sent them home ie fired them . The best you can do is return them to work so they fend their families. God bless you for very kind words now action needed .

Personally, I am sick and tired of this story of gachagua..! He was elected to serve the people of Kenya, but he is still on campaign mode. This is a man who was convicted by the court of law with graft charges, yet he claims to be truthful. Hes also fighting another plot worth 1.2 billion claiming ownership

Instead of Talking PROMISES Given during Campaign, it's Bravado and Distraction. And Guess why He doesn't Believe that GachaRuto are "leading" Kenya? Because they LOST for Real.

I didn't vote for Ruto but I have to say this, he is a shrewd politician. He picked Gachagua as his DP because he knew the man is a cry baby who will not pose power threats to him. Na kama angefinywa mara 10 na Moi vile Raila alifinywa ama mara 1 kama Uhuru si angeruka kichwa.

MR Gachagua, help me reconcile between firing the police who were doing their job and forgiving them. when you e, you don't fire, you don't talk about it every time you open your mouth. That s what forgiveness looks like. WaKATI WAS SIASA IMEISHA, TUPIGE KAZI SASA.TUPUNGUZE BEI YA UNGA TAFADHALI.
