Ol Kalou MP David Njuguna Kiaraho Dies at 62
David Njuguna Kiaraho, the Member of Parliament for Ol Kalou, died on Sunday, 29 March 2026, at the age of 62 while receiving treatment at Nairobi Hospital.
His death was confirmed by National Assembly Speaker Moses Wetang’ula.
Kiaraho had been in declining health since the 2022 general election and had largely withdrawn from public engagements over the past year. Many of his constituency duties, including the administration of bursaries through the Constituency Development Fund, were handled by his staff during this period.
Colleagues said he remained committed to serving his constituents despite his condition. He was first elected in 2013 on a Jubilee Party ticket and later aligned with the United Democratic Alliance (UDA). Over three terms in Parliament, he served on the Departmental Committee on Transport and Infrastructure and the Procedure and House Rules Committee.
His background in architecture, developed at the University of Nairobi and through his work at Archgrid Systems, informed his contributions to infrastructure policy and debate. Tributes were led by President William Ruto, who described him as a dedicated and humble leader.
Senate Majority Leader Aaron Cheruiyot noted his technical expertise, while National Assembly Majority Leader Kimani Ichungwa and Interior Cabinet Secretary Kipchumba Murkomen highlighted his diligence and focus on development.
Born on 2 October 1963, Kiaraho attended Alliance High School before studying architecture at the University of Nairobi.
He later moved into politics, where he was regarded as a calm and measured leader who worked across party lines. A Funeral Preparation Committee has been formed by the Speaker of the National Assembly to coordinate burial arrangements with the family. The committee will be led by Kinangop MP Kwenya Thuku, with Nyandarua MP Faith Gitau serving as assistant.
