President Ruto Admits Losing Weight

President William Ruto on Sunday during a media engagement admitted to losing weight.
Mr Ruto said that he needed to cut weight in order to stay up to the task with the demands of running the apex office. He added that in the run-up to the 2022 election, the pressure was heavy on him and he ended up neglecting exercises. The head of state said that the office demands that he stays alert in order to deliver in his mandate.
"We went into elections and when you have elections you have a lot of pressure and sometimes you take out the pressure on food and you don’t have time to go and exercise. I decided to cut it down because ile kibarua niko nayo si kidogo, you need to be very alert, to work better," he said.
During the round table meeting, Mr Ruto also addressed the rumours that he met the opposition leader Raila Odinga before his public request for bipartisan talks. Ruto said that he met Azimio's leader in Nyandarua after many months of not seeing him.
On April 3, President Ruto offered Raila an olive branch and proposed a bipartisan approach to addressing the IEBC commissioners’ recruitment.
