Kenyan Man Missing in Jamaica After Skipping Scheduled Flight Home

A Kenyan missionary has been reported missing in Jamaica after failing to board a scheduled flight home from Norman Manley International Airport.

Isaac Kimeu, 39, was last seen on Monday, 16 March, at the Kingston airport shortly before his planned departure to Kenya. Authorities confirmed that he did not check in for his flight. He had been working with the Missionaries of the Poor and had been instructed to leave the island following his dismissal from a children’s home in Golden Spring, St Andrew.

Witnesses reported seeing Kimeu at the airport wearing the white robe and blue sash associated with the religious order. Police described him as medium-built and approximately 5 feet 7 inches tall. He is known to have been living on North Street in Kingston.

Investigators believe Kimeu was a religious brother rather than an ordained priest, which has complicated efforts to trace his background in Kenya. His home county has not been confirmed.

The Kingston Central Police have appealed for information from the public. Officers are reviewing airport surveillance footage to establish his movements after arriving at the terminal.

Online reactions have included questions about airport security and speculation about whether Kimeu may have chosen not to travel. Authorities have not confirmed any such claims.

The case follows another recent disappearance involving a Kenyan national abroad. Nahashon Wanyoike went missing in the United States after a phone call while travelling to work. His family has not been able to locate him.
